Chapter 2

I sat in my favorite spot. Sa bandang likuran ulit ng room ako naglagi. Madali kasi makita ang buong kwarto kapag nasa likod ako. Nasa unang taon pa lang ako ng Chemical Engineering. I still have three years ahead of me. Matapos noon ay makauuwi na ako sa Fort Devargo, hindi ko na kailangang mag-aral pa rito.

Everyone's getting a bit noisy. Natahimik lamang sila nang dumating na ang Professor.

"Some hydrogen atoms would pair up in the dense, hot gas, creating trace amounts of molecular hydrogen. The hydrogen molecules would then start to cool the densest parts of the gas by emitting infrared radiation after they collided with hydrogen atoms." Patuloy pa din sa pag-discuss ng lesson si Mr. Fuego kahit pa mukhang kinukuha na ng liwanag ang mga kaklase ko.

"The temperature in the densest parts would drop to 200 to300 kelvins, reducing the gas pressure in these regions, allowing them to contract into gravitationally bound clumps." My head's getting heavy. Umubob ako sa mesa at nagsimulang umidlip.

"Meda..." Napatingin ako kay Bella na katabi ko ngayon.

"Uh?" Ngumuso siya sa harap at doon ay nag-eye-to-eye kami ni Mr. Fuego. How unlucky of me!

"Seems like you're smart enough, natutulog ka na lamang sa klase ko. Stand up!" Napatayo ako nang wala sa oras.

"Uh, Sir. I'm really sorry! It won't happen next time. Masakit lang po ang ulo ko."

"What ionized the hydrogen gas of the earliest stars?" Wait gusto niya bang mas lalo pang pasakitin ang ulo ko?

"R-Radiation." Alinlangan kong sagot.

"Correct. Where do black holes possibly concentrated in?"

"Galactic Centers!"

"When stars explode, they form what?"

"Some stars exploded as supernovae, dispersing heavy elements throughout the universe. While, the most massive stars collapsed into black holes."

"How many men have walked on the moon?"

"Twelve!"

"What wonder drug was used for three years by the Army and Navy before becoming available to the general public in 1944?"

"Penicillin!"

"W cloud at ground level is called what?"

"Fog?"

"Correct. You've answered all my questions right. Pinahanga mo ako." He smiled. Mukhang absuwelto na ako?

"T-Thank you, Sir!" My classmates started to cheer me up. Nagpalakpakan pa ang ilan. I smiled with all my heart. Dadamhin ko lang iyong moment na ito.

"Now, get out!"

"Oooow!" Sigaw ng mga kaklase ko. Teka anong ginawa kong mali? Napasinghap naman ang ilan sa sinabi ni Sir. Wala eh, ganoon talaga. I brought my bag with me at lumabas na ako ng room. Ano pa nga ba magagawa ko? Kailangan ko lang naman i-save sa kahihiyan ang sarili ko. And this is the easiest way so far, ang lumabas na lang gaya ng sabi ni Sir.

Naglakad na ako sa corridor. Sa susunod na klase na lang ako papasok.

"Ms. Clementine, can I have a minute?" Napatingin naman ako sa nagsalita. Si Mrs. Tremaine iyon. Siya ay professor din sa Biology Department.

"Yes," Naglakad siya pauna sa akin.

Saan naman kami pupunta? Sinundan ko na lamang siya. She's really damn weird. Sorry for the cussing.

"Uh, ano po ba ang pag-uusapan natin Mrs. Tremaine?" Tanong ko nang makarating kami sa faculty room. Tambak ng papeles ang bawat mesa sa loob. May iilang Professor din ang abala sa pagyipa sa kani-kanilang laptop.
