After the death of Dan, Hazel and Jack were constantly acting like they could be killed like Dan was. Dan's death has impacted the two of them a lot
You could see in their day to day life that they were obviously affected a great deal. Every night either Hazel would stay at Jack's or Jack would stay at Hazel's house. They were scared not to be in the same house in case one of them were all of a sudden ended by their mysterious murderer. Jack was becoming paranoid about who even was the murderer and how he or she knew where they always was and how what they were always doing.
The worst thing was there was never anyone around when Jack and Hazel were always together, or alone. It was impacting Hazel the most though. She was always looking around and would constantly be whispering to herself on a night,
"I'll be fine,"
"I won't die,"
"I will stay alive."
These words kept Jack awake at night. He even had to ask her wether she was a okay. Sometimes Hazel would just burst into to tears. Jack would go over and give her a hug even though he never was one for hugging, but still would try his best to comfort his friend. As he hugged her he could feel her crying stop and her breathing slow downIt was getting to the point where Hazel's actions were rubbing off on Jack, but Jack wasn't as often but was a lot worse. With Jack a hug wouldn't work, not even a tight hug. He eventually had to calm himself down. But Jack and Hazel were slowly falling apart inside. But now it wasn't Dan's death that upset them........
