"Come on Alex!" Nichole screams as i'm putting on my shoes.

"Im coming!" I say as I rush downstairs.

"Why do I have to go tonigh-" i start to say, but then my eyes shift to the window. As my eyes lock on a shadowed figure looking in the window. My body is frozen. I'm speachless. In an instant, it vanishes. I am oblivious to the fact that Nichole is trying to get my attention.

"ALEX!" Nichole shouts. I finally snap back to be looking at the brown eyes of my sister. "What happened? What are you looking at?"

"Nothing. It's nothing." I say.

"Ok. Whatever. Lets just be ready to go soon please?"

"Why do I have to go? Kali was gonna come over to hang out!"

"Because it's your sisters prom, and I need you there to keep an eye on her." my mom says with a hushed tone.

"MOM!!" Nichole wines covering her face with her newly painted fingernails.

"Ugh this is not fair! Please mom?!"

"Ughh! Fine go ahead." my mom says in her tone that she makes when she gives in. "Lets just go Nichole."

As they close the door i text Kali and tell her she can come over. It's about nine when the doorbell rings. As I open the door Kali is waiting with her hair straightened and her pink plad shirt on.

"Hey beautiful." I say as i motion her inside and give her a hug.

"Hey. So whats the plan tonight?"

"Well i rented a chick flick for us." I sarcastically say as I role my eyes.

"Aw. Haha. I can tell your not to thrilled." she retores back to me in a playful way.

We sit down and the movie starts. About halfway through i hear a knocking sound. I look at Kali and she's wrapped in my arms and holding my hand. I try to ignore it and go back to watching the movie. Five minutes later it's back again.

"Kali, do you hear that?" i ask in a firm but hushed tone.

"What?" she replys.

"Did you hear that knocking?"

"No I d-"

Suddenly she's frozen as her eyes are glued to a shadow in the corner of the room. She tenses up and squeases my hand tighter. All of the sudden, the shadow gets closer and closer. I can feel my throat drying up. As it gets closer, the air seems much much cold. Kali's eyes are in a horrified look.

"Al..a..alex. lets leave!" she screams as she barrels down the hallway. Then, as if someone pushed a button I hear a bone-trembling scream. I rush down the hallway to find Kali pinned against the wall. Trying to restraint from the force keeping her there. As I reach out for her hand something slams me against the hardwood floor and is dragging me away from her. I scream for it to let me go, but it won't. Next thing I know is I'm pulled down the steps to the basement and door slams in my face. As i lay there, losing conciousness and dazed, I can't help thinking what's going on with Kali. Before I can try to get up I'm thrown against the wall and something scrapes my leg. I shoot out a cry of pain as I feel warm red liquid running down my leg. Then i'm released and land on the concrete with a hard thud. Then with no hesitation I get up, barelling up the stairs, and yank on the door frantically. It won't open. I yank harder and now realize i'm pounding on the door.

"HELP! Kali! Where are you?!" I shout with great concern.

"Alex?" I hear a muffled cry coming from the other side of the rotten oak door. I hear the door click, and next thing I know I come racing out the door. I see Kali and give her a hug and keep her in my arms.

"Oh my god! I'm so happy your ok. I love you!" I say as tears start to stream down my face.

"I love you too!" she manages to choke out.

For the rest of the night I spent with Kali in my arms.
