"What the fu-"
Before I knew it, my eyes forced themselves shut. My body ran cold, my palms sweating profusely as my heart was beating at an abnormally faster rate. This feeling had never come to this before and I was scared. Really scared. Then everything stopped.
The feeling, the pressure. They were gone. I opened my eyes slowly, expecting a wave of insult and humility to greet me but there was nothing. To my horror, my "class mates" lay on the carpet still, lifeless even. I run towards the closest person I knew. This wasn't what I wanted, never in my life had I wished anyone dead. I just wanted it all to go away.
"Leah?!" I shout, kneeling down beside her and shaking her lifeless body. I was bound to get a response from her, she's the mouthiest person I've ever met.
Nothing.
"LEAH?!" I yell, louder this time. I held her up, hoping that she would suddenly regain consciousness and everything would be "normal" again. She fell limp. I lay her on the ground gently before racing over to another. I check for a pulse, nothing. I was about to shout again before hearing a series of beeps across the room. As if someone was pressing the keypad on a phone.
I turn to see my English teacher, Ms Laurence. She has the telephone in one hand and a box cutter in the other. Tears stream down her face as she continues dialling the number.
"Hello, I would like the police please?" She chokes out, fidgeting with the box cutter. She looks up and notices me staring right at her. I don't understand, I have no idea what happened. Did I do this? I couldn't help but ask.
"Ms Laurence." I say softly, noticing the woman is clearly traumatised. She doesn't answer, instead she averts her gaze to anywhere but me. I push myself up from my kneeling stance and turn to face her. "Ms Laurence, What happened?" I firmly ask. She hesitates, tightening her grip on the blade. I take a step closer, hoping it would provide comfort but instead it had the same effect of adding gasoline to a bonfire.
"STAY AWAY FROM ME!" She screams, backing up against the shelves. Whilst doing so, she knocks several textbooks off the shelf. "I WILL NOT HESITATE." She continues, pointing her source of defence in front of her.
"Ms Laurence I-"
"Y-You're a m-monster." She says, bringing herself to look at me."A monster?" I ask, taking another few steps forward. Ms Laurence backs into the nearest corner, shielding herself with the textbooks that lay near. "I'm the monster?! Have you even been paying attention to your class? Have you ever seen the looks, heard their poisonous insults?! How about that one time I was punched and kicked and my chair was taken away? You done nothing, Ms Laurence." I pause. The feeling is coming back but this time I allow it.
"NOTHING." I yell, throwing my hands forward causing the box cutter to fly across the room as Ms Laurence curled up tighter, defenceless. "If you care so much about those sick bastards then you can join them!" I say with a tone of amusement. Have I lost my mind? Apparently so. I raise my right hand, the blade slowly lifts from the wall it had impaled. I throw my hand forward in her direction, watching the box cutter slash the air flawlessly. This will all end when this is done, right?
"ARIA."
