Evangelion: Sharp Horizon

I'm back! It's been a while since I have been doing any of these logs. Mostly because I've been so damn busy... being a team leader takes more work than I had imagined. But that's not the only thing that has changed. The angels we have encountered (5 more since my last entry) each came with a new and unique way we had to defeat them. I earned a nice scar across my face from my left cheek to the right side of my nose from having to sword fight this angel called Narakshaniel one on one. I had to spike my synch ratio to be able to move fast enough to defeat him, so when Unit 13 (still kickin ass and taking names) took a slash across the face, I did too. However, Narakshaniel went down finally from a new feature I installed in Unit 13, called the Overdriver Unit. It's two small engines localized in Unit 13's hands that allow it to focus the energy I can naturally gather and release from my angelic side and transfer that power into two forms, destructive energy, or propulsion. For running with the Overdriver, I put my hands behind me and use them like jet-engines. I can go from a standstill to mach 1 faster than an F-35 being dropped from a skycarrier. The Overdriver has become a main part of my fighting style. But not all new things revolve only around the EVA. To everybody's amazement, Asuka and I have managed to keep a steady relationship this long. She turned 17 last week. Heh... THAT was a good night for all involved... hehehehe... uh, moving on! Shinji and Rei are a very confusing couple. One minute, they don't talk. The next, it's like they're married. Mari moved in. She's proven to be quite a pilot. That unit 005 can really move. She was the fastest on the team until I installed the Overdriver in Unit 13. She and Asuka have this strange rivalry. I talked with Asuka once about it and she seems to suspect Mari of trying to steal me away from her. This is absolutely ridiculous, since Mari is like a sister to me. I reassure Asuka of this on an almost daily basis, but their rivalry continues to not only persist, but escalate. Mari's side of this is that Asuka has changed me. As a matter of fact, I completely agree. But I say it's for the better, where as Mari wants the old Kane back, the one she knew. I have no idea what to do, but I do what I must to keep my team functioning as it should.   I actually have a purpose for this recording today. Misato asked me to have a talk about the team with each of the members separately and tell her what I find. First, since she's right here, I'll do Asuka's. Then, since she's closest after that, Mari. Rei is off doing something with Commander Ikari, so Shinji will be next, and Rei last. Here we go.  

Pilot Profile #1- Asuka Langely Age- 17 Unit- 002  

Asuka- What do I think about the team? Well, we do have a fantastic and fearless leader... and also Kane (laughs). But seriously, there are only a couple things I'd even bother to say, mostly just for the sake of saying them. Shinji, despite the noticeable improvements he's made, is still unstable. 

Me: Heh. Aren't we all a little?

Asuka: True. But still, he drags the team down with his depression issues.

Me: I suffered through depression.

Asuka: But you beat it.

Me: I repressed it. I wouldn't necessarily say beat it.

Asuka: You overcame it. He hasn't. He hasn't bailed on us yet, but it seems like we still need to talk him into being a pilot.

Me: Actually, that's my job, with which you need not concern yourself.

Asuka: Shinji isn't the only issue, Kane. Mari is too.

Me: That's personal. This is work.

Asuka: But it effects the team!

Me: It's personal either way.

Asuka: Sigh... alright. Im done.    

After that, I ask if she wants to come with me to Mari's and then over to Shinji and Rei's, but she declines. Sigh... I have a bad feeling that this won't end nicely between her and Mari. Or her and me, for that matter. Regardless, I walk a few doors down and knock on Mari's door. She opens it.
