The first thing he saw were her eyes. Chocolate brown, magnetizing eyes. Sad eyes, tired eyes, eyes that were frantically looking for something at the park bench he was reading at.

'Can I help you?' She looked up with a face full of surprise, as if she didn't notice him being there till now. When their eyes met, it felt like all clichés came together in one moment. Time stood still, he saw the lightning strike in and he could swear he heard a choir of angels singing their hallelujah's. She stared at him, while a deep pink blush coloured her cheeks. The corner of her perfect shaped lips went up in the tiniest smile. 'I'm looking for my necklace. I've been reading on this bench yesterday and I was hoping it would be here somewhere' He tore his gaze away from her face and kneeled down. There it was, lying in the long grass. A necklace with a pendant of a tiny silver key dangling at it. Her eyes went big and her smile made the sun look pale. She spread her arms and before he knew it, she hugged him tight and pecked a kiss on his cheek. She blushed and stammered: 'I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to kiss you!' He still felt her lips on his cheek and smiled. 'I don't mind, but I'm curious why you're so happy finding a necklace.'

She sat down and started to talk. 'My mother gave it to me, right before she died. She told me it was the key to her heart and now it would be mine. I need to keep it with me, till the end of my life. Then I'll give it to someone who can have my heart' He stared at her. 'That's a beautiful love story. Much better than the one I was reading.' He pointed at his book. At page 186 I discovered that someone ripped out the last pages. I'll never know how the story ends.' She smiled a sad smile. 'Sometimes you don't need to know what happens next. Just use your imagination and make up your own happy end.'

He looked into her eyes. She had her own story to tell, he could feel it. The air seemed to be so much brighter and the sounds so much hazier than 20 minutes ago. His eyes traveled down to her lips. They were full and pink and kissable. He didn't know what came into him, but all of a sudden his lips were on hers. It started out as a slow, gentle kiss. Exploring each other, discover the sensation of their fire. It didn't take long to heat up, their hands were all over each other. He broke the kiss and looked at her. He couldn't understand, but it felt like they were new lovers and so familiar at the same time. 'Do you want to come to my place? I live across the street.'

Sex had never been that good. Their bodies felt like the last pieces of a puzzle, merged together, fitting perfectly. After they both rode down their highs, he looked at her. 'I didn't even take you out on a date. I'm going to make that up to you!' There was that sad look in the beautiful brown eyes again. 'I'm afraid I'm not going to be around much longer.' He questioned what she meant with that, but before he could ask, sleep took over.

The next morning he woke up to a cold bed. On the pillow was her necklace, the silver key reflecting the morning sun. There was a note that said: 'One night only, but I gave you my heart.' She was gone.
