She was sitting on the end corners of terrace with her knees to her chest when the sudden thunder bolt sound shook her to core. Her already red tears dried eyes got filled with tears again. No matter how she try to control but her tears won't stop coming.
She wanted to standup and go inside as the rainfall started and was falling really hard wetting and hurting her all together. She tried to stand up but her legs gave up as she fall back on her butt hurting herself.
She started to think, think about her life, about her husband and about her children. In her 16 years of marriage what did she got other than her own husband criticism and insults. She was just 17 about to turn 18 when she was engaged to the man, her so called husband. As soon as she turned 18 her grandparents got her married. No one asked her whether or not she wants to get married, if she like the man or not. She was just told she is getting married and the end. Then she was just brought here to her husband house in New York, not just new place, new city but a whole new country. Now here she is crying on her fate, her life.
With heavy rainfall getting heavier she just gave up on her fate as she turned her head little right to see inside of the bedroom where her husband was sleeping without a worry or not even a single thought of her.
Her husband who never once cared for her, who infact don't leave a single change to insult and taunt her for not being educated enough, for not being upto his standard, for not matching his status. She was just a 12th/HSSC pass or you could say only high school graduates who knew nothing other than households duties. He was not willing to marry her but only did it because his father her father-in-law blackmailed him for the family heritage. His father was afraid that if he didn't get his son married to an Indian girl his son would bring a foreigner or a white girl with him, after seeing his playboy ways.
She sighed remembering how many times he flaunt his white girls friends in front of her to taunt her. Not only on her education but also from her ways of dressing, speaking, eating even living, he just needed a reason, any reason to insult her.
Even with everything, she fulfilled her duties. Her duties as a wife, as a daughter-in-law, she did everything not just as a duty but also as a responsibility. She tried her best to be a good wife, a good daughter-in-law and soon just after a year a good mother. Her in-laws gave her the love she never had, love of parents. They were like her own parents. They were the reason why she was able to bear the pain given by her husband for a year. Then she bore with him for their kids, their 14 years old twin sons and 12 year daughter. But last night after what happened she just don't want to do anything. She was somehow able to digest her husbands insult but now when her own kids taunt her for being what she is she is just lost. Her own son asked her not to come to their school as they feel embarrassment to introduce her as their mother. That they feel ashamed of her, their own mother. And to which their father laughs as he say that she has been an embarrassment to him for all this year, that she should feel ashamed of herself, instead of scolding their son for talking as such to their mother. But for whom she was expecting. She should know that when her own husband insult her that too in front of them, why won't they will learn and pickup after their father, after all they are his kids more than hers. Even though she was the one to carry them inside her, giving them birth while risking her life, nourishing, feeding, caring, growing them; they were more of him than her.
She was broken by her husband but now she is totally shattered by her kids. Soon as darkness consumed her and she gave out her consciousness.
