the world was a blank canvas for a while,

a while too long.

so when my eyes finally opened and colors invaded my vision, I smiled,

not for too long, though, as endless happiness is only temporary and soon you fully remember every detail of the night you fell asleep.

I had expected to open my eyes and see a white ceiling, silence, maybe? no.

pain, was the first feeling to feel, physically. my stomach was in pain.

"she's awake, she's awake! mom, she's awake!"

I look to my side to see Aaliyah, as she pulls on Karen's arm and sports a smile.

I tiredly smile once again as Karen let's out a tear. "oof, why are you crying? where am I?" I mumble looking around.

she lets out a tired laugh before engulfing me in a hug, Aaliyah the same.

"thank god you're awake!" Karen says as she pulls away from the strangely emotional hug.

"what? where am I? where's Shawn?"

I had never seen someone go from so happy to so confused before.

"you've been in a coma, Mai, for three and a half months." Liyah mumbles, pulling on the strings of her hoodie.

I frown as I try and remember, "oh."

nothing.

"Christ, I've put on some weight haven't I?" I joke, looking down at my somewhat bloated belly.

"wait so you're telling me I basically got raped, hit my head, fell into coma, gotten pregnant, adopted, and that Shawn is now famous and touring?" I stare at them in shock.

Aaliyah let out a small nod and then looked back at Karen.

"wow, ain't that just a tad overboard— holy shit there's a baby inside of me." I say, my eyes widening as it suddenly all dawned upon me.

"we waited for you to wake up so you can choose wether you want the baby or an abortio—"

"I'll keep it, I don't think im capable of killing a baby." I mumbled.

I don't know who the father is nor how I will look after a baby, but I'm sure it'll all turn out okay. I'm sure Shawn will help once he comes home from tour.

maybe for once in my life everything will fall into place.
