It was early in the morning of a Tuesday in November when I saw the black Cadillac drive up and stop in front of the Payne's. Intrigued by the new car, I pressed my face up to the frosty window and watched to see who would be walking out of the mysterious automobile. The first thing I saw was the bottom of a white converse, followed by a fit leg in dark skinny jeans. The figure turned to say something to the driver, and turned his back towards my window. Wait, I knew that back!
I put hastily pulled on my robe and leaped down the stairs, bounding out the front door in just my pink pajama shorts and purple tank top into the chilly fall weather.
"Li!" I yelled, sprinting now, determined to reach Liam before anyone else. He turned around just in time to see me bury myself into his arms. "I knew you'd come back eventually!"
"Tay!" He smiled, not quite as enthusiastically as I said his name, but I could tell that he was happy to see me. I took a deep breath of just his scent, I was so happy to have my best friend back, I never wanted to let go, but Liam seemed to have an agenda of his own... Although I tried to convince myself otherwise, there was something slightly different about this boy. While I was still stumped on why Liam was acting differently around me, I heard him yell out, "Run!" He grabbed my hand and we sprinted inside to avoid the brigade of paprazzi coming at us. "Sorry, Taylor... I didn't want you to get all caught up with the media, or for them to come out with some bull shit articles that I'm cheating on Danielle..."
"Liam!" He was cut off by his parents waiting for him in the kitchen. "And... Taylor?"
"Mum, Pop!" His parents pulled the two of us into a big hug that lasted for what felt like hours.
"So, how's school?" Liam asked, taking a big sip out of his hot coca that his parents had prepared for us.
"Eh, ok... I mean I've become quite popular now that my best friend is in the biggest boyband in the world..." I shot him a cheeky wink.
"Ah, of course," Liam chuckled.
"So, when do I get to meet these boys?"
"Whenever you like, I'm actually going to dinner with them tonight if you wanted to join?"
"Sure, sounds lovely!" We made small talk for a while longer before I glanced up at the kitchen clock. "Shit!"
"What, Tay?" Liam asked as I hastily pulled my robe back on and got off the couch.
"It's already 10:45! I was supposed to be at school three hours ago!!"
"Would you like my driver to give you a ride? I mean I'd love to come drop you off and say hi to some people at school..."
"Thanks Li, but I still have to go back home and get ready, and I don't want to make you wait, you should be spending family time, you aren't back for long."
"Nah, it's fine, anyway I have some clothes that I picked out for Danielle while I was coming back, you can just have those."
"Are you serious Liam? But I still have to go home and ya know... put on my face."
"Well I think you look beautiful just the way you are," Liam said sweetly.
Succumbing to Liam's protests I went to school, dressed like a celebrity in all the hottest name brands, with an actual celebrity at my side. There were a few classes where Liam didn't stay with me, but instead visited his favorite teachers and friends, but he stayed next to me like a loyal puppy dog for the majority of the day.
After an eventful afternoon at school, we slumped into the black Cadillac.
"Wow, I'm exhausted! I was up until 3 last night working on a history paper!" I complained, leaning my head on Liam's shoulder.
"Don't forget, dinner with the boys next!" He said cheerfully.
"How do you get so much energy? I know you've probably spent the majority of last night traveling."
"I dunno, I guess I got used to long days during the X Factor and tour!"
We walked into Sally's diner, covered from head to toe in clothing to keep us warm and toasty.
"Liam-" A tall boy with a mop of messy curly brown hair cut off before he finished his sentence. This must be Harry Styles, the flirt.
"Who's this?" A boy with a slightly higher voice chimed in, folding his arms and staring at me with his piercing blue eyes. Louis I assumed.
"Oh look, Liam brought a girl, haha!" A blonde boy with a heavy Irish accent laughed--Niall. Another boy stood amongst the four boys remained silent, but smiling, his deep brown eyes inviting and kind. Zayn, the deep one.
"Boys, this is my best friend, Taylor!" He put his hand on my shoulder, then turned around with our coats in his hand. "I'm going to go put these away, go socialize, Taylor!"
"So, what dirty secrets do you have about Liam, Taylor?" Louis asked, inching closer to her.
"Yeah, anything embarrassing like his fear of spoons?" Harry chimed in, his voice low and raspy, a perfect compliment to Louis' high and full voice.
"Oh, he hasn't gotten over that? Ha, well basically when he was younger... he used to like to eat... a lot... so his parents told him that during the night time spoons come and take overweight children's toys, so he was always afraid of being too fat, and afraid of spoons... he's gotten over the fat thing, but apparently not the spoons!"
The dinner went surprisingly smoothly, the boys were all really really nice to me, I even got all their numbers. At the end of the night the boys all started to beg Liam to bring me on tour, as they were all bringing a family member or close friend. I gladly agreed, only saying that I had to check with my parents although I was almost positive they'd let me go. I didn't want to make anything out of it, but I could've sworn I saw Harry making eyes at me a few times during that night... but I'm sure that didn't mean anything... I mean it couldn't, right?
Boy, was I wrong.
A/N: Ok this chapter was long so if there are any mistakes they're just because I'm not scanning the chapter as carefully as I usually do... and its 3:30am...
