The next morning, Joe woke up and realized that Aya had not woken up once all night. He hears her crying in her room. He goes into her room and picks her up, noticing that her forehead is burning up. He rushed back into the bedroom and woke Jon up. "Jon...wake up. I think Aya is sick. She's burning up."
Jon sat up in bed and rubbed Aya's forehead. "Yeah you're right. She does feel hot. Let's take her temperature to see what it is."
Joe grabbed the thermometer out of the bathroom and took her temperature. He frowned when he saw the results. "102.5 degrees...maybe we should take her to the hospital." Aya starts grabbing at her ear. "Awww...I think she has an ear infection...we can just give her some Children's Tylenol for now and if her fever doesn't go down then we can take her to the hospital." He holds Aya close to him. "My poor baby girl..."
"Let's just make sure to monitor her just in case it get's worse."
Joe handed Aya to Jon. "I'll go find the Children's Tylenol and get a cool washcloth." He got up and went into the bathroom finding the Children's Tylenol in the medicine cabinet. Getting a washcloth wet with cool water, he brought it back into the bedroom and placed it on her forehead. He then measured out the dosage for the Tylenol and gave it to her. Kissing her cheeks, he holds her close to him.
Jon wrapped his arms around Joe's shoulder and laid his head on it. "I hope she'll be okay...I don't want to be a failure as a parent already." He said, sighing.
Joe kissed Jon's forehead. "She'll be fine, love. You aren't a failure as a parent and you never will be a failure."
"Yeah I guess you're right. Everything will be fine."
About an hour later, Joe took Aya's temp again. "99.2 degrees. Still a fever, but not as bad as before...I just hope we don't get what she has."
"Mhm...that wouldn't be good. I think she'll be just fine." Jon said, twirling his finger around her hair. Joe watched as Aya smiled at Jon. "Awww...she loves her mommy."
"Pfff. Yeah, but I think she's more of a daddy's girl." Jon said, smiling at Joe and nuzzling his nose against his cheek.
"I think we should make an appointment to get her seen. Because if it is an ear infection, it's not gonna go away on its own." He grabbed his cell phone and called the pediatrician. A couple minutes later he hung up. "The pediatrician said she would see Aya tomorrow at 10."
"Okay good. Our poor little girl. Not even a few days into this world and she's already sick."
Joe watched as Aya let out a big yawn. "Awww...poor thing is getting tired. I think we should let her sleep in here with us tonight so we can keep a direct eye on her. I'll go get the bassinet and set it up in here."
"That sounds like a good idea." Jon agreed.
Joe grabbed the box with the bassinet in it and brought it into the bedroom, setting it up next to his side of the bed. He lays Aya in it and watches her fall asleep. "Our poor baby girl..." Jon took Joe's hand and patted it. "She'll be fine. She's a strong little girl, just like her parents."
"Yeah...you're right." Joe said as he kissed Jon's forehead. Jon kissed him on the lips. Joe kissed him back deeply, quietly groaning. Jon leaned back and looked at Joe. "Something wrong?"
"Not at all, my angel." Joe said, bringing Jon back close to him, kissing him deeply some more, smiling.
Smiling back, Jon nibbled on Joe's lips and giggled. Joe moaned softly into the kiss, but then remembered that Aya was in the room. “We can't do anything with her in here...” He said, sighing.
