6. Lantern slides
It was so easy - almost too easy - to slip those little words into conversation, and into her mind. The seed of doubt was by far the easiest of all to plant and to nurture. It needed no light; just the darkness of a fragile heart was enough to strengthen it. It fed off the desperate cries of a dead man in the lonely night, and although it seemed the smallest of things - even when it had full grown it was only but a small, thin needle of silver - but one prick was enough to send the world crashing down around her, and all that she had ever known and her.
