It is April the 3rd. Today Brandon received the news from his mother that his father was never going to be returning home from Iraq. Later in the afternoon police and an ambulance were around his house. Brandon had committed suicide by firing his fathers hand gun into his head.
Hours before his death when Brandon received news that his father had died in battle he went into a deep depression. His father was supposed to be returning home from Iraq on the 12th and his father, mother, and him were supposed to be traveling to another state to visit his family and have a fun time. Now that his father was gone those plans were ruined. With so much grief and pain he didn't know what to do or who to go to. His mother had stormed off into her room sobbing.
What else was there to do? His father was gone and there was nothing he could do about it. He felt as if in that moment there was no reason for life to go on. Brandon stormed off into the computer room and retrieved his fathers handgun which was located on the shelf of the closet. Shaking and hyperventilating he threw himself against the wall as tears began to fall from his eyes. He tried his best to remember every ounce of detail of his father, and ever memory he had with him. Holding the gun as close to his head as possible he pulled the trigger.
In his fathers room his mother heard a loud bang and she quickly ran out to find out what the cause of it was. When entering the computer room she had witnessed a horrifying scene which no mother should ever witness. She broke down even more. Their good neighbor ran into the house to find out what the loud noise was and heard Brandon's mother sobbing. Running to her she as well witnessed what she was crying over and quickly ran to the phone in the living room and called 9-1-1.
A week had passed since that incident. A funeral was held for both the father and the son. His mother and family were all sobbing at the loss of the father which was an unfortunate event, but what hurt the most for them was the loss of such a young life that could've grown to see a future and become more than the child he was.
This event could have been prevented. If in that moment which he heard the news of his fathers passing instead of his mother running off to grieve; if she had held her son in her arms and let him cry onto her he could've lived to see another day. Instead of the two funerals on the same day their could've been one. If there was just someone there for him to hold him to help him understand the proper actions he could've taken then he wouldn't have taken his own life.
