I never really expected it to happen. It was a total fiasco, but it was totally worth it.

To start this off, my name is Claire Demetria Jones and I’m seventeen years old, almost turning eighteen on the fifth of May and is studying in Avarton Helmsworth High and its right down my street.

I’m the daughter of the mayor of Mayflower Town, Trevor William Jones, and my mom, Farren Cynthia Jones. I have a three-year old sister named Rianne Kelly Jones, and she might be adorable but she has a huge hysterical laugh that she got from my dad.

I’m a normal girl with normal friends and I sometimes get into mischief. Okay, lots of mischief. I can’t help it; I just had to break some rules to make it fun. I always get into trouble and dad’s the one that’s always there to scold me. I got my brown and wavy hair from my mom and the dark brown eyes from dad.

Mayflower Town is mostly popular for our fresh spring waters from the numerous lakes in our town, and my dad is doing everything to keep it clean.

So, it was early in the morning and I got out of my bed. I had a nightmare. I went in the kitchen and drank a glass of milk, quietly as I could while my family slept. I finished my cup and went back in my room.

I tried going back to sleep but it looks like it was impossible.

I turned on my night light beside me and picked up a thick book and started reading it to help me fall asleep. It works every time.

I woke up the second time and I saw it was already eight in the morning. I was late for school. I rushed in the bathroom and took a bath. When I finished getting dressed, I went downstairs, ate my breakfast, grabbed my bag and was ready for school. I went outside to ride on my bicycle and I paddled as fast as I can to reach school without being late.

When I finally reached school, I parked my bicycle where I usually put it and ran to chemistry class. I ran through the corridors and arrived in the classroom, and as expected, I was two minutes late.

My chemistry teacher, Mr. Ives gave me an angry look, stared at the clock, faced me again and said “Late again, Ms. Jones?”, he put his hands on his hips. I tried to tell him that I woke up late but before I could say a word, he said “Nope! I won’t accept any excuses this time. Go to your seat.”.

As he ordered, I went to my seat beside my best friend, Emerald Casey Banks. Everyone calls her Casey. Casey has long and orange hair with green eyes and has the same height as me. Casey is really smart and she’s the top of our class. Whenever I need help on homework, she’s always there to help.

Once I sat down on my seat, Mr. Ives continued his lesson. Casey leaned over to me and said “Well that was harsh of him”, “Tell me about it” I rolled my eyes.

When lunch break came, Casey and I scooped some spaghetti and grabbed a small can of Coke and sat on a free table. While Casey was sipping in her Coke, I asked her if she wanted to hang out in the Mayflower Mall later after school. Dad owns that mall. Anyways, she put her Coke down on her tray and said “Sorry, Claire. You know I have piano classes later,”

“Oh, yeah” I looked down on my food,

“You should go without me. I heard that Aeropostale was having a sale. Go buy one if you want,” I picked up my fork and started twirling it around my spaghetti,

“Alright, if you insist. I’ll buy you a shirt too from Aeropostale, a blue one, just like your favorite color.” I smiled at her,

“Thanks, Claire! You’re the best.” She giggled.

When school ended, I headed into the parking lot where my bicycle was. I got on it and went to Mayflower Mall.

Mayflower Mall is the biggest mall in our town. So when I got there, it was almost filled with people. It was so crowded that the escalator was already full. Instead of the escalator, I headed to the elevator, but that wasn’t a good idea either. Too much people were in the elevator that one guy was squished in the corner. Since the escalator and the elevator are already full, I decided to go through the stairs. The staircase was surprisingly empty. Only a few people were there. People are honestly lazy these days.

I climbed up two floors and headed to the ‘Fashion Section’ to buy Casey that blue Aeropostale shirt. While I was walking, Mr. Mc’Adam stopped in front of me on his electric scooter. Mr. Mc’Adam is the mall cop. He goes around the mall checking for robberies, but he never finds the robbers anyway. Mr. Mc’Adam is a stout forty-six year old man with blonde hair and a brownish moustache.

He turned his electric scooter on me and sniffed, “Yes, Ms. Jones?” he said in an annoyed way, “What now Mr. Ma-cadam?”, “It’s Mc’Adam!” he said. I did that on purpose. Mr. Mc’Adam let out a big sigh and said, “Carry on now. We wouldn’t want any traffic now, would we?” he rotated his electric scooter and headed to the ‘Grocery Section’.

As I watched him leave, I turned around and heard a shriek. I turned around again and saw a guy in front of Mr. Mc’Adam’s electric scooter.

I hurriedly ran towards them and saw Mr. Mc’Adam scolding the teenage guy. I helped him get up, “You should watch where you’re going next time. I almost ran over you!” warned Mr. Mc’Adam, “Yes, sir.” He said in a British accent. I let him sit on the bench near the fountain.

I noticed his knee was scratched. It was bleeding lightly, “Oh, shoot. I am so dead when my dad sees this.” He said softly, “Does it hurt?” I asked “Yeah,” he answered. Since we were near the fountain, I took some water inside it. The water was from the lake, which means it’s clean.

I scooped some water with my hands and gently poured it to his knee. He twitched a little when the water dropped on his knee, “Sorry, does it still hurt?”, “No, its fine. Thank you.” He gave me a weak smile.

Suddenly, some of the mall cops appeared in front of us,

“Hey, did you get water from that fountain?” one of them said,

“Yeah, why?” I said, wiping my wet hands on my shirt

“You do know that it is strictly not allowed to get the fresh spring water from the fountain, right?”,

 “Yeah, I do know. But-“

“Come with me, young lady so I can teach you a lesson when you break mall rules.”

Both of the mall cops grabbed my arms. While we were still not far away from the fountain, I glanced at the injured guy. He was still sitting there. Our eyes suddenly met. I looked away. Then, something just hit me. Well, not literally. I thought that if I get in trouble here, they’ll surely tell the mayor, which is my dad.

I’m gonna be in so much trouble. So, I quickly pulled my arms out from their grip and ran as fast as I could. I went back to the fountain and saw that he was still sitting there, “So, I guess I’ll see you soon. I think,” I said to him, “You too. Thank you by the way,” he replied.

I suddenly saw the cops coming towards us, I ran away. While I was running, I shouted “You’re welcome!” to him while my back was turned. I kept running. I turned around for a second to see if I already lost them, and surely I did. I turned my head again and saw two cops standing in front of me. Their hands were folded. That means I am now officially in big trouble.

This time, I had no more plans to escape from the mall cops because I know they would still tell my dad about it. I’d rather have it face to face.
