Hannibal and Michelle

Chapter 1

Even after living in America for 15 years, Michelle Østergaard still felt like an outsider. She was proud of her Danish background but it wasn't the sort of place other people related to. They looked vague or glazed over when she said Denmark, let alone her home town of Køge.
Perhaps the only other person who she really related to was her best friend Hjørdis Jørgensen, another outsider, a loner,
And her mum of course.

Michelle and her mum were incredibly close and still contacted each other everyday. They had always had a close relationship but after her father had been killed in a hit & run by a drunk driver, they had cling to each other in their grief and shock.
The day everything started to change for the better was the day Michelle started therapy with Doctor Hannibal Lecter.

Michelle and her family moved to America when she was 12.
Her parents wanted a better future for her but a mere 4 years after moving to Virginia, their lives would change in a way no one could have seen coming.

24th May 2008

"Michelle are you are you ready to go?"
Shouted her dad at the bottom of the stairs.

"Coming papa"
She replied as she finished tying her boot lace.

They were going to the local shop for a few things.

Michelle got in the passenger side of the silver Jeep Liberty family car, they were 5 minutes from the shop when a truck plowed straight into the drivers side of their car.

Michelle blinked a few times as she tried to make scenes of what had just happened. She checked herself but she only had a few cuts.
A gargling cough came from next to her and she remembered her father.

"Papa no, no papa"
She cried as the life was slowly slipping away from him.
He grabbed her hands for the final time and whispered.

"Husk altid, du er elsker"
(Always remember you are loved)

He closed his eyes and like that Michelle's life would never be the same.
She slowly got out of the car as she heard sirens in the distance.
Michelle looked over to the truck that had smashed into them, the driver long gone.
This was now a hit and run killing.
