"Ew Lex look at them all. They're just a bunch of Neanderthals." I said to my two best friends Lex and Ashley as we sat on the bench at the back of our high school watching the boys varsity soccer team. "Sophia you're just mad that they'll never notice girls like us." really Lex really. I mean yeah okay, maybe it is a little frustrating knowing that they all think we're nothing, but I would never admit that to her. It would ruin my image. "Am not! They're gross and think that they're amazing." "okay Soph what ever you say".
Alright I love Lex so much, I mean she's been my best friend since 4th grade, and we're now in our senior year but sometimes she can be a real pain in the ass. I was about to turn back to her to ask her what party we were going to tonight, but of course Spencer has to show up, her boyfriend of almost 2 years.
He's a sweat guy, i guess. Just not when he's with the rest of our 'group' and that's why I have a problem with him. He always feels like he needs to try and one up every one. Lex always gets upset with me when I give him attitude, but I'm just trying to protect her. She's my best friend after all, I would do anything for her.
As the three of us sat waiting for Ashley (my other best friend), I noticed one of the guys on the soccer team starring, at me, i think? No, it couldn't be. Guys like him don't just look at me, we're totally different people. His name is Logan I think, I heard he's a total asshole. You know, you're typical 'I'm popular and your not so stay away from me' jock, who has a gorgeous, yet bitchy girlfriend named Sierra, that we know he just uses for sex. Once he noticed that I saw him looking at me he quickly looked away and went back to his team.
Well that was weird.
I finally see Ashley walk out of the school doors. "ASHLEY! Holy shit! Where have you been?! We've been waiting for what? 4 years for you?!" I say looking at the time on my phone sarcastically going in to hug her. "Sorry sorry! I had so much homework to finish!" Of course, Ashley's always been the 'smart one' of the group. "Yeah yeah, homework this, homework that. Anyways we were just trying to decide on what party to go to tonight, you in?"
"Uhh.. I have a huge te..." I cut her off before she could finish. "Ash the test is like a week away, you can go out for one night" "Yeah come on Ash you have to! Spencer and I are going too! It won't be fun with out you! Pleaseee?" Lex begged her, giving puppy dog eyes and pouting her bottom lip.
"Alright alright, Jesus Christ! I'll come. Its okay if I bring Nick right?" Nick is Ashley's new boy friend, he seems really nice, I like him. "Yeah of course! Alright great! I think we're going to go to Chelsea's farm house like we always do since her parents aren't ever there". Spencer finally spoke up, taking his cigarette out of his mouth. "Can we leave now? and what time do we have to be at Chelsea's?" He's so rude sometime, he didn't even say hi to me or Ashley. Whatever, as long as Lex is happy that's all that matters.
I just shortly said "be at my house at 9, we're all going to leave from there." Rolled my eyes and turned back to everyone else.
As we all say goodbye and start walking different ways heading back to our cars, I turned around because I had that feeling that someone was watching me, and sure enough I was right. I find Logan looking at me again.. Just kind of starring at me. They had just finished their practice I think, they were packing up all their stuff so I just assumed.
Before I turned my head back to keep walking I saw him, give me a quick small smile before looking down?. Maybe.. I must be going crazy. A guy like him couldn't possibly be shy to a girl like me, could he? He shouldn't even be looking at me.
As I continued to walk I just thought to myself how weird that was. I've never had a conversation with him or barley even looked at him before. Hell if we didn't have homeroom together back in year 6 I wouldn't even know the kid. I really haven't seen him since then at all, so how would he remember me?..
He's very attractive, don't get me wrong but why would he be looking at me I mean I'm most definitely not his type. He's popular and plays sports and is good looking and gets good grades and I'm well.. I'm not any of that, at all. I don't try to impress anybody at school ever, I basically just wear black skinny jeans, little brown ankle booties,
and either a black or white t-shirt with my hair half up half down. Nothing special, at all. I wouldn't say I'm ugly by any means but I sure as hell don't look like Sierra.I'm not like all the other girls in my school what so ever. I'm not stick thin or have long blond hair, I don't really talk to any boys besides Spencer sometimes, Nick, Jake and Brandon the other two boys in our group. It just took me by such surprise to see him looking at me, I could be over thinking this completely. He could just be being friendly, right?
Maybe.. No no no I quickly shake my head to get rid of my thoughts. I don't do relationships, not like one would happen with a guy like him but still. What is wrong with me, all he did was look at me for like 2 seconds I shouldn't even continue to think about it. When I finally get to my car I quickly switch my thoughts back to the party and what I'm going to wear to night.
