After showing lance around the school, Keith made his way to the front to wait for his brother. Shiro was a senior in high school, and He would finally be graduating this year. He'd been held back a year for violent behavior with some kid named slav, but honestly Keith didn't blame him. Anyone would like to beat the shit out of Slav. While lost in thought Keith's phone buzzed in his pocket.
It was a text from Shiro.
As it turns out Shiro had to work late today and he couldn't pick Keith up. This wasn't unusual for him. Keith and Shiro lived alone since their parents signed up for the army. Since Shiro was over the age of 18, he was legally allowed to take care of his little brother.

On his way home Keith was walking past a large field and got the urge to lay down. At this time of night the stars were clearly visible. "No harm in staying for a while" Keith thought as he lied down in the soft grass. Not much time passed before the sophomore was struggling to keep his eyes open.

Hours later he found himself being shaken awake by someone else. He opened his eyes to find the boy from earlier that day. "What Time is it?" Keith asked in a dreary tone as he rubbed at his eyes. "11:45" lance answered. "Oh my god Shiro is going to kill me..." Keith murmured to himself in panic. "Hey I'm sure you'll be ok, where do you live?" "123 maple wood Av." Keith said. "Let's get you home" lance smiled. "Wow you've gotten a lot better at English." Keith said in surprise. "Well I've kinda been studying that book you... uh...." lance trailed off "given?" Keith said with a small grin. "Heh, yeah." Lance said. "Here" lance said, extending his hand to Keith. Lance hoists Keith and reached for his bag. He hands The shorter boy in front of him a small note that's folded and sealed with a small smiley face sticker. "Let's go" lance grabs Keith's wrist and they started walking in the direction of Keith's house.

"Hey..." Keith said to break the silence. "Why were you out here so late?" "I was taking a walk. Don't worry about it." Lance said in a somewhat sad tone. Keith didn't want to pry, so he stopped talking for the rest of the walk home.

Time passed and eventually they were standing on Keith's doorstep. "Make sure Keith look at the note ok?" Lance said, still struggling in English. "Sure thing"Keith said with a small grin. Lance waved and was on his way. Keith put his keys in the lock and opened the door as quietly as possible. He snuck into his bedroom with out Shiro noticing and went to sleep.

Keith woke up to a very angry Shiro looming over him. "Where the hell were you!" Shiro yelled. Keith scrambled for words but gave in and looked away. "I heard you talking so someone at the door, who were you talking to?"

"Just a friend" Keith said in a timid voice.

Shiro just looked at Keith with disappointment. Keith swore he was even worse that dad sometimes. "I'm sorry, I fell asleep in that field behind our apartment..." He trailed off. "You could've gotten hurt. Who knows what could've happened to you. You've seen the news lately, things are crazy right now." Shiro said in a concerned voice. The shorter boy found himself tearing up amidst his older brothers small rant. Shiro sat beside him and gave him a small side hug. "Better get going kiddo" Shiro gave his you her brother a pat on his back and left the room.

When Keith left his house he wasn't expecting t see lance outside of his house. The blue eyed boy wakes from his seat on the bench and Keith shot a small smile back. When he went to put his hand in his pocket he felt a small piece of paper. 'of course! You forgot to read his note dumbass' The boy mentally slapped himself. He pulled out the note and read:

"Hey, so... I know you kind of just met me but I'd really like to be your friend. You've been nice to be ever since I showed up here, even if the teacher told you to. I spent my entire free period in the library writing this to you, hah. Kind of funny. You would think people would hang out with their friends on their free period and I'm here studying English. The even funnier part is that my grammar is probably way off. Anyways, I hope to hear from you soon. Bye!"
