Chapter 4: Unexpected

Stella POV:

I woke up Sunday morning with a satisfied smile on my face. It wasn't that I had dreamt about something wonderful or that I knew I looked great or didn't have morning breath because none of those were true. It was because for one small second I had realized that my reality was better than my dreams. Not my future dreams or personal goals but just the dreams I had at night--reality was beating my subconscious for once!

I went into my en suite bathroom and primped for the day by applying light makeup and brushing my hair. I then threw on some khaki polo shorts and a decently revealing wraparound, black and white, bandana shirt. It exposed most of my back and a touch of my stomach, only enough to hint at my belly ring though. I then put some cute black earrings in my double pierced ears and strapped on some cute black sandals.

When I got downstairs, I found Sarah waiting for me with an excited look on her face. Sunday was girl day for us and our friends and today we were going to brunch. "Okay, I know I can't say anything about WHO you're dating," at my eye roll she rephrased throwing in an eye roll of her own, "went on a date with, but can I mention the date itself? Or is this a super secret thing?" The blank stare I gave her was answer enough because she sighed and swore to secrecy as if she hadn't even asked. Then we headed out to brunch.

Upon arriving at the restaurant, we found our 5 best girlfriends: Emily, Katherine, Cynthia, Kaitlin, and Gabrielle waiting for us with champagne already flowing and discussion escalating quickly. The more they drank, the louder they got. Even though we weren't arguing, I still noticed how much of a nuisance we were becoming to the other patrons at the restaurant. I knew that I needed to calm down the girls from the looks the waiter and managers were giving our table. I warned the girls that we would be escorted out if we couldn't keep the volume down and that shut everyone up pretty quickly. Although we were a large and loud group of ladies, we were also classy and knew when to zip our lips in public. At home though, that was a different story.

Brunch went exceedingly well and I was so glad to see all of the girls again and catch up. We had all lived on the same floor freshman year and had managed to get together once a week since then in order to preserve our relationship. Upon arriving home, I found a bouquet of peonies on my doorstep that brought immense light to my features. I smiled so wide for so long that my jaw started aching. The note accompanying the flowers read, "Hey Cinderella, I saw these and thought of you! I can't wait to see you Tuesday! -Jesse"

I ran inside to put the flowers in a vase and set them up in my room all nice and pretty. They matched my decor perfectly! I don't know if he knew they were my favorite flowers or not, but either way I was ecstatic at his taste and increasing level of boyfriend potential.

After fawning over the flowers for a decent period of time, I got my phone and facetimed my Prince Charming. He answered quickly and the smirk on his face told me everything I needed to know.

"You love them, don't you Stella?" I almost died at the sound of my name on his lips. It rolled off his tongue so beautifully. I groaned at the pure sexiness of it and finally responded to his smug face.

"Yes, they're perfect Jesse! Thank you so so much! How did you know peonies were my favorite? Ugh, it doesn't even matter if you knew because I love them so much! Thank you!" I knew I was rambling, but I just couldn't hold it in!

He chuckled, "Well I didn't know they were you're favorite, but now that I do, you'll always have fresh ones to display."

I fell back onto my pillow and laughed. "Oh Jesse, stop! Alright, well I'm coming over so just be prepared. You need to text me your address because I just have to thank you in person right now!"
