I awake alone and lying flat on my back

I awake alone and lying flat on my back. It hurts quite a bit. I seem to have landed roughly upon impact. As I attempt to refocus on my surroundings I can hear the sound water flowing nearby.

There must be a creek, maybe I can get some fresh water. I am very thirsty.

The wind is blowing harshly against my skin. As I stand up, I rub my arms to create some, if any bit of warmth.

It is freezing! It wasn't this cold before... wait a minute! Where am I?

Not seconds pass by before I hear the hooves from several horses trample through the nearby forest and a man yelling in the distance, "Cupid! Over here!"

"Hurry! Don't let her get away this time!" A man with deep voice commands.

This time? Could they be talking about me?

The feeling of panic arises at an alarming rate. I refuse to stick around to see who the strange men are truly talking about. Looking down, I discover I am wearing a pale-blue dress and nothing upon my bare feet. I am used to wearing only pants, but there is no time to figure out the best attire to run in. I gather my dress in the palm of my hands and run as fast as I can. With every pounding footstep across the overgrown field, I can hear the horses coming closer and closer.

I'm not going to make it!

I hear a man yell, "There she is! Just pass the trees! Just like before! Hurry, Cupid!"

The galloping of the horse's feet responds to the sound of a whip cracking in the air. Before I can escape, a man with strong and sturdy hands swiftly scoops me on top of his painted horse. Begging for mercy, I scream at the top of my, "No! Please! Let me go!"

I attempt to pry free, but there is no use. The man cracks the whip once more and begins to take us to a place that only he is aware of.

We have been traveling in silence for quite some time. At some point, he introduces himself. I discover the man who had kidnapped me goes by the name Cupid. In the beginning, he attempted to persuade me into remaining calm as we traveled down a long dirt path. I elbowed him in his broad chest several times in hopes of escaping. His grip only tightened around my waist with every one of my failed attempts. We both quickly discovered neither he nor I were the weaker link and we were both just as stubborn.

We eventually approach a small hill covered in wildflowers and a single Dogwood tree standing alone with branches of white blooming flowers as tall and far as my eyes can see. Cupid stops suddenly and stares into the distance before finally speaking, "You know, this is the first time you have been here in years."
