I pushed open the door to Photography class and walked in, a smile plastered on my face. Zayn followed behind me pouting with his shoulders slumped.

"Come on my little five year old, mummy will give you a lolly pop if you're good." I mused and Zayn punched my arm.

"Stop it!" He whined and I rolled my eyes.

"Well maybe if you didn't act like a little kid throwing a tantrum I wouldn't have to tease you." I retorted as we sat down in our seats.

"I don't want to do this presentation." He groaned.

"Jesus Christ it'll only take five minutes."

"And that's all the time I need to ruin my image." He pouted and I snickered. "What? What's so funny?"

"Didn't know you had an 'image'." I mused, air quoting the word image.

"Very funny Tommo." He said and then Mr Jensen walked into the class with a large smile on his face. He clapped his hands and he scanned his class to see if any students were missing.

"Right class, time to start the presentations. Let's see who is going to go first..." He trailed off and I watched as Zayn sunk lower in his seat and I chuckled. "Ah Zayn Malik." The professor smirked and I had to hold in my laughter.

Zayn sighed and got up making his way towards the front of the class. He passed his picture to Mr Jensen who placed it on the projector so the photograph was projected on the board so everyone could see.

"Ok Zayn. Tell us about your picture."

"It looks like that." Zayn said pointing to the board making some students snicker.

"You fail to amuse me Mr Malik now explain!" Mr Jensen ordered.

"Ok, ok! So it's the sea and the sunset. Oh and that's Louis sitting there looking all pretty like." He said and he looked at Mr Jensen who motioned for him to continue. With a big sigh Zayn continued. "I don't really want to do this but here I go. The beach has a lot of meaning to me. My family and I used to go there on the weekends so the beach holds a lot of good memories for me. Then the sunset well, the first time I ever took a picture it was of a sunset when I was twelve and it just looked so beautiful. There was something about it which made me want to take more pictures like it. And then there's Louis. Well you see Louis has such a passion for photography that, I don't know, just to see him always be so happy whenever he held a camera or the way he talks about a picture made me fall in love with photography so much more. I know that if it wasn't for Louis I wouldn't even be on this course." Zayn smiled looking over at me winking.

"Well Mr Malik, I must say that, that was quite a speech! And it deserves a B. But I'll give you a B plus since Louis is included in the presentation." Mr Jensen said and Zayn rolled his eyes as he made his way towards me.

"See being best friends with the favourite student has its perks." I mused and Zayn punched my arm.

"You're an idiot." He laughed as a girl walked up to the front of the class.

Soon enough my name was called out and I walked up to the front of the class with a big smile on my face. I gave the picture to Mr Jensen who studied it a minute before nodding at me. I looked behind me to see the picture on the board and smiled.

"So the project was about taking a picture which inspires you. Now I know you're all thinking how I took this picture since I'm the one in it. I had another camera set up but that's not the important part. What is important is why this picture inspires me. From a young child I was always really interested in the things which surrounded me. Wherever I looked I saw perfection and beauty, that being buildings, the people or nature. In this particular photograph I was trying to take a picture of the sky. The clouds had just covered the sun and there were sun beams just glowing from around the clouds. As I was about to take the picture though the two birds had decided that landing on my head would be a good idea. So instead of taking a picture of the sky I took a picture of a bird. A lot of photographers would be angry if something like that happened because they would of missed that moment. But to me it was better than the sky because it was something that happened out of the blue and sometimes taking a picture of something unexpected makes a much more beautiful picture than the one you planed to take." I grinned and the whole class started to applaud.

"Well, well, well Mr Tomlinson you never cease to amaze me. A+." He nodded.

"That was a really good speech Lou." Zayn gaped and I smiled at him.

"Thanks."

"How long did you practice it?" He asked, raising his eyebrows.

"I didn't. I spoke from the heart." I answered and a warm smile tugged at Zayn's lips.

"These are one of those day that you make me proud of you." He said as he tilted his head to the side.

"Thanks dad." I mused and Zayn hit me.

"You just ruined the best heart whelming moment in history." He pouted and I laughed.

"But for real thanks Zayn." I smiled and he furrowed his eyebrows.

"For what?" He wondered.

"For being my best mate and for being there for me." I said and he smiled back. We hugged each other and then turned our attention to the boy who was speaking.

Zayn meant a lot to me. It meant a lot to me that he felt proud of me, that he stood by my side, that he never gave up on me when things had gone out of control. He filled that emptiness that was in my heart, he made sure I knew it wasn't my fault. I didn't drive him away, I didn't scare him away; he left me. And if Zayn wasn't there to remind me that then who knows where I would be today.
