"Do you know what Hala means?" Asked the woman softly, heavy and thick accent escaping her mouth as she spoke to the paler male with brown hair that sat beside her, staring up at the dark sky which was lightened up by billions of spectacular stars and a round, full, shiny moon.
The silence that followed the Arabian woman's words was broken by the sounds of the sea, waves splashing and smashing against each other or on the hard rocks underneath the two humans who were sitting just at the edge of a tall cliff. They weren't scared to fall, even when they felt like the ground underneath them could break any second.
Taehyung's chocolate-coloured eyes twinkled beautifully as he counted each star in his mind, almost getting lost in the pure beauty of the dark night most people called 'ugly'. But truth be told, they called it ugly because they were scared. But it's not the night or the darkness that they are scared of- it's what could possibly hide within it.
He snapped back to reality briskly and turned his head in the direction of the woman who's face was still a mystery to him, as she has always been wearing a burka that covered almost the whole of her. "Hm? Hala is just a name, isn't it? At least... That's what she told me. She said it has no meaning." He spoke back nicely, trying to be as polite and as gentle as he could with the woman.
She simply laughed, her dark eyes could barely even be seen through the grille or mesh window across the eye area that was made specially for the woman to be able to see through the burka. "Of course she told you that," The female giggled, her voice kind and clear as she spoke to the younger man. "My daughter doesn't really like to speak about 'cheesy' things, as she calls it. She dislikes her name."
The brown-haired adult let out a quiet "Ah" in understanding of what the masked woman dressed in blue was saying about Hala. "What does it mean? Now you got me curious." He chuckled lightly, placing his hands beside his sides on the soft, green grass as he was gently swinging his legs at the edge of the giant cliff he was sitting on.
The woman stood silent for a few moments, her head slowly rising to look up at the sky. She could barely see it, but it was just enough for her. At least she got to get out of her house after so many months of staying locked up inside that damn hell. It felt so good to get some fresh air and be able to relax, knowing that your kids would be safe and sound while you're getting a small break from everything.
She raised one of her hands to point up at the dark sky, the winds gently blowing through the ends of her blue burka, making it move slightly. "See the light around the full moon?" She asked, before placing her hands in her lap and her gaze remained fixed on the sky. "Hala is the light circle around the moon which makes it look like it's shining so brightly. Hala is what makes it seem so magical."
Taehyung remained silent and listened at what the old female was saying. He looked at the moon and stared at it intensely, gently fluttering his long lashes while tilting his head to the side, seeming to get even more curious. His eyes were shimmering with interest, the little sparks within them shining so gorgeously.
He's never heard of a name that sounded so divine, before. In fact, he didn't even expect this name to have such a fine meaning to it, something that was unique and not overrated like 'beauty' or 'star'. He loved the name Hala. The pronunciation, the spelling, the meaning- everything about it. It was... Special.
The moon halo. How fascinating. His interest in the girl really seemed to be rising, almost getting to the point where it makes him want to leave right at this moment, find her and confess his feelings to her. In fact, he knew from the very first moment he saw her that he'd end up developing a big crush. The first time he met her was painful and his heart felt like aching at the reminder of the incident.
Brushing the painful thoughts aside, Taehyung bit his bottom lip when he started thinking about the pretty female. He just couldn't help himself- he really, really, really liked her. He didn't even notice that the older woman who sat beside him was staring at him the whole time, watching his reaction and every move of his.
He didn't realize that a few words he shouldn't of said have slipped his mouth. "I love Hala... " He confessed in a whisper, his chest rising and falling as he was breathing calmly.
And suddenly, the shocked woman went very, very still.
