A/N: This barely even fits the 1000 word requirement and it's all over the place. Sorry for making you wait so long, but I tried, I failed, and that's all that matters. iciclesthecat

Imagine this; a giant white ballroom adorned with golden spiral and swirls that come together to recreate beauty. Golden chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, staircases fit only for royalty, windows the size of double doors, floors as glistening as the sun. Tables scattered across the room covered with pure white cloths, and on top delicacies suited for celestial dragons. Soothing music playing in the background, lively chatter coming from every corner of the room. Everyone is enjoying themselves, so... why does he always have to be such a buzz kill?
Here we are, invited to a royal ball as honorary guests to protect the gathering from any possible danger or incident, shouldn't we enjoy ourselves too? Do we really have to just stand here in one spot and watch how everyone else is having fun? Why did I have to come with him? ...Oh I remember now...

"Alright the issue at hand is, which two, of all you, will be attending the annual celestial ball?" we were stuck in this meeting with Admiral Sengoku, who was taking his sweet ass time explaining EVERYTHING. I look around the room just to see Garp asleep in his chair a snot bubble coming out of his nose, eww. Vice-admiral Kizaru had already snuck out of the meeting, Aokiji is taking a nap with his sleeping mask, everyone else seems either 'interested' in the conversation or just bored out of their minds, and then that would leave Vice-admiral Akainu who is actually paying attention to every word Sengoku says.
"Y/N, Y/N!" "Huh, yes Sengoku" quickly coming to my senses I respond back to the Admiral. "I was asking if you'd like to volunteer to attend the ball" "Sure, sir, I'd be more than happy to attend it, ...but who else is going with me?" "Vice-admiral Sakazuki has volunteer to go" Welp, this is the moment when I regret not listening to the conversation from the beginning and now I'm stuck with volcano man for a whole evening, life can't possibly get any worse, right?

And this is how I ended up here, standing in a corner next to Akainu. I mean it's not like I hate the guy it's just for the past years I've been in the marines I've grown a slight crush on the hothead, but knowing him he wouldn't even think twice before rejecting me the second I confess.
"Could I steal this dance?" I turn to my right to see some snot-nosed celestial dragon covered from head to toe in a some kind of space suit. His hand was extended towards me. "Sure" I replied, it's not like I have much of an option I either accept or risk the chances of getting shot. Anyway it might relieve my boredom for a bit. He locks his arm around mine and pulls me towards the center of the room, he puts his hands on my waist while I put mine on his shoulders.*Akainu's P.O.V*
Usually Vice-admiral Y/N is talkative and by that I mean she doesn't know when to shut up, but shes been awfully quiet it's worrying. My ears perk up when I hear a voice near me, I turn to see some brat asking Y/N to dance, he's practically forcing her to dance. I watch as she is guided to the center, the way she walks is as though she commands the whole world. Her H/C hair sways with every step she takes, those little details always captivated my attention.*Reader's P.O.V*
"You have such beautiful eyes" the man whose name I later learn to be Saint Charloss. "Why thank you" I try to be nice when I respond. "Have you ever thought of starting a family" I'm not liking where this is going, "Wellll...". "May I take her for a while" we turn to see Akainu standing there, I've never been so happy to see him. "Sure" Charloss walks away mumbling things under his breath. I turn back to Akainu "You know, you came right at the perfect moment" "Glad to hear, may I have this dance?" He motions his hand towards me, I grab on to it and he pulls me closer to him. We practically glide across the dance floor, and that's surprising knowing that somehow this giant man can actually dance. The song begins to come to an end, he slowly leans a little closer to me. I'm pretty sure my face is 50 shades of red now, I lean in preparing for what I wanted for so long now... "PIRATES HAVE INVADED THE SHORES!" "WHERE?" He runs off towards the direction where the scream came from, everyone around me are running and screaming as if it were the end of the world. They couldn't have waited 5 more seconds, I was so close to having my kiss. "I'm going to murder each of them slowly and painfully" I whisper to myself, heading off to find the pirates who started all of this. And that's how my evening passed.*Time skip*
After we captured and mostly killed all the pirates, we went back to the marines HQ. I walk to my office to file a report on the incident "Just what my day needed boring paperwork" I exclaim sarcastically. "You could always leave it to me" turning around to see Akainu walking towards me. "It's fine, Sengoku already says I don't do enough work, might as well do this to shut him up" "Well if you insist, I have to go, I got other things to do" he turns back. "Good luck with that, I'll see you tomorrow Admiral" I turn back ready to leave. "Oh, and one more thing" I turn around only to have my lips smashed against his. My eyes widen, only to have them closed enjoying the sweet kiss. He pulls away after a few seconds, "I forgot to give you that back at the ball, see you tomorrow Y/N" he leaves, leaving me a blushing mess. "Heh, you really are something Akainu".
