namjoon always knows when jeongguk is in little space.
because when jeongguk is in little space, he always wears his bunny ears.
namjoon got them as a joke for jeongguk, long before he even knew jeongguk was a little (even though it could've been obvious based on the stuffed animals, the cute clothes, and the longing for pink things: his little side's favourite colour).
he'd gone to the dollar store, and considering april was nearing, he had the urge to buy the bunny ear headbands, a blue and a pink. he took the blue for himself, and snuck into jeongguk's room and stuck the band onto his head, laughing when Jeongguk furrowed his brows.
shortly thereafter, namjoon caught jeongguk filling in a colouring book with piglet from winnie the pooh stuffed tightly under his arm. all jeongguk had done was simply look at him before continuing without a word, kicking his feet back and forth.
since then, jeongguk doesn't go into little space without his pink bunny ears. if he doesn't have them and a stuffie (it's usually piglet) with him, he wants to cry.
when namjoon gets home, he faintly hears the sounds of a cartoon coming from jeongguk's room, and he sneaks his way there. by the hue of pink, he can already tell, jeongguk's in little bunny mode, as namjoon has taken to calling him his little bunny.
jeongguk's stuffed himself into his computer chair, headphones stuffed in his ears, but since they had gotten unplugged, the noise comes from the speakers. jeongguk's bunny ears are starting to fall off his head and his pink pacifier is tucked between his lips as he sleeps, spongebob on a repeat. he'd bought the whole first season on a whim, needing something to watch.
namjoon figures that today must've been a tough day for jeongguk.
"hey, bunny," namjoon coos, tapping jeongguk on the shoulder, and jeongguk flutters his eyes open and whines at the light from the computer screen, then changes when he sees that it's spongebob. it's that one episode where he rips his pants and sings. he loves any episode where there's singing. "what're you doing?"
"sponge'ob," jeongguk mumbles, pointing like it's obvious. "hyungie, i's sponge."
"yeah, i see that," he hums, and reaches to adjust jeongguk's ears so they're upright and proper. "how's piggie? you're crushing him in your arms."
jeongguk looks down and adjusts piglet so he's facing the screen again, still all wrapped up in the big fuzzy blanket jeongguk always uses.
"i'll bet you're hungry, though," namjoon says. "you're just eating candy, aren't you?" jeongguk shakes his head a lot and namjoon just laughs. "i'll make special soup, just for you."
jeongguk lights up and holds out a hand for namjoon to take as namjoon hits the space button to pause the cartoon, so jeongguk can be pulled out and led to the kitchen where he can watch namjoon make his special soup. it's the only thing namjoon can actually cook on his own, and sometimes he messes it up, and has to call seokjin for help, but jeongguk always eats it anyways, no matter if he's a man or a bunny.
the soup isn't anything much, consisting of broth, mushrooms, carrots, spinach, and noodles, and sometimes chicken if namjoon can cook it right. but it always makes them feel better, especially if they're stressed.
jeongguk plays with piglet's arms as he's helped up onto the bare kitchen island, sitting his butt on the tile and shaking his feet.
"want to tell me about your day?" namjoon asks, and jeongguk starts to whine, a telltale sign that it was a long day. namjoon smiles as he reaches and plucks jeongguk's pacifier so he can talk properly.
"hyungie," he moans, pouting. "people're mean to me."
"mean how?"
"they don't like me."
"i'm sure they would if they knew you."
"they don't want to." jeongguk huffs, "and i carried a lot of stuff."
"ooh, like what?"
"i carried a lot of popcorns. and a lot of boxes. and a lot, a lot, of pizzas." namjoon hums as he cuts carrots on the cutting board. "my arms hurt, hyungie..."
"i'll make them feel better, after soup," namjoon promises. "is your spanish getting better?" jeongguk lights up at that. he's always loved learning new languages, and since a lot of people speak spanish at his work, he always tries to learn more and more.
"para," he says.
"what's that mean?"
"it means 'for'!" namjoon chuckles and turns.
"can you use it in a sentence?" he asks, and watches the gears turn. he knows the sentence will be rudimentary, but he'll praise it nonetheless.
"para mí namjoon," he says slowly, and purses his lips, "mí amor."
"your love for me?" namjoon guesses, and jeongguk nods with a grin that namjoon had understood, vaguely so. "i don't know, bunny, do i deserve so much love from you?"
"¡sí!" jeongguk yells, and namjoon laughs as he nods and goes to ruffle the front of jeongguk's hair, careful to avoid his ears. "hyungie, where're your ears?"
"in my room. you can go get them for me, how about?" jeongguk nods, and sets piglet in his place as he runs to namjoon's room in search for the blue set that matches his. namjoon looks at piglet and hums. "you're so lucky, piglet, he loves you so much." jeongguk runs back into the room with the ears and positions himself about two inches from namjoon's face as he puts on the ears.
"hyungie bunny," he singsongs, and namjoon chuckles before jeongguk rubs his nose against his, in a sort of bunny kiss jeongguk likes to do when they're both clad in ears. "love hyungie bunny, te amo."
"love you too, bunny."
