Chapter 5

Ava's P.O.V.

I stared at him wide-eyed. Did he really just ask that?

He chuckled when he saw my face.

"It's ok. You don't have to answer now." He told me." In fact, you don't even have to answer this month if you don't want to, but one day I'm pretty sure you will answer, whether it be tomorrow, next week, next month, or even next year.

He picked up his bag from the table we had been sitting at and gave me one last smile.

"I'll see you tomorrow,Ava." He walked away, whistling to himself and leaving me with my mouth way open in shock.

What have I gotten myself into?

Will's P.O.V.

I whistled as I made my way home, thinking about my day. I learned a lot about Ava and I planned to learn a lot more.

"Hey Mom! I'm home!" I yelled as I made my way through the house. It was still filled with the boxes that we haven't had the chance to unpack just yet. In our defense, we only moved here just a week ago.

"Oh! Hey honey, how was your first day at school?" My mom said, appearing from the kitchen with her apron covered with flour. My mom loved to cook and did it constantly.

I grinned." It was good. How was your day at work?" My mom operated an on-line website that gave advice to women on things like cooking and family care. It didn't pay a lot, but she made enough to get us by.

"Good! I was able to put a new recipe up that everyone's going crazy about." She told me with a bright smile. My mom is always cheerful, no matter what.

"That's good."

"..............Hey Will?" My mom asked, looking thoughtful.

"Yeah?" I asked while munching on an apple.

".......Do you meet a girl named Ava Rain today?" I nearly choked. How could she know about her?!?!

"Um......yes.....why do you ask?" I said after recovering from my near choke.

" Oh no reason really. I just knew her parents when I was younger and I heard she's living here with her Aunt Tabitha after...............well....I was just wondering.""She said not finishing her sentence.

"After what?" I asked, setting my apple down. What does my mom know about her?

"It dosen't really matter. Why don't you go upstairs and do your homework, ok?" She said giving me a smile and returning to the stove.

"Whatever you say." I replied as I walked away.

The Next Day.

"Hello,Ava." I said as I sat down in the chair next to her in our first period. I didn't miss how she blushed when she realized it was me.

" Hey." She replied softly, not really looking at me.

At that moment the teacher walked in."Ok class, settle down! Good. Alright, let me start of by letting you know that today we are doing a group activity and it is to be turned in at the end of class. Yes, I will let you pick your own partner if you behave and do the work. Any questions? Alright then, I'll pass the assignment out." He said grabbing a set of papers and laying them on the tables.

I grinned and turned to Ava."So...what do you say?Partners?" I said, wagging my eyebrows at her and holding my hand out. She just rolled her eyes and scooted closer to me after shaking my hand.

We began our assignment and right away I became confused.

"Ok, you do it like this."Ava said, writing out an example for me. I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't impressed. It looked super complicated, but she made it seem like it was the easiest thing in the world.

"You must have an A in this class, huh?" I asked in awe after she finished. The example was so complicated it took up most of the page.

"Well......no....I actually have..well....I have a D." She said blushing. My eyes widened.

"How can you do this and have a D in this class? I had a B in my old school and I can't do anything like this." I said.

"I guess I just don't really care about doing the work anymore so I......don't. I guess I could if I really wanted to but.....I don't know." She said shrugging, her face closing off. It's like she was hiding something.

"With a brain that can do this, you can easily pass with an A. Why don't you?" I asked her. I didn't like that she was wasting a talent like this.

"Think about it. The stuff that we learn in school will never help us through bad stuff. School gives you an imaginary world where everything has an answer and is always logical. Besides, I already know the stuff, so why do even more work with it? Can we just get back to this assignment?" She asked me, bending her head once more to our project.

I just looked at her. Ava has secrets and I intend to figure out every single one.

Ok, I know it's been a while, but I've been verrryyy busy these past couple of days.Thank you for everyone that has commented and voted. I personally didn't think many people would actually read the story. Any who......I'm trying to come up with characters so who do you think should be Ava and Will? I seriously have no idea what so ever. Thank you for putting up with any mistakes and all that junk.
