drive

The empty expense of space - so silent and wonderful. Alone in this void floats a small cloud of metal, scraps and shards from a forgotten voyage, with a small hard drive in the centre. So alone. So cold. No one knew how long it had been there. And so - as it scrapped across the side of a ship, the crew could only be shocked.

One woman saw it from her window. The small metal chunk that scrapped her window seemed important. As an engineer, she could recognise a drive from anywhere.

"Hey, Neil?" She spoke into her watch. "There's something outside"

"What do you mean?" The man responded.

"It's a hard drive. Doesn't look like it's in bad condition. It's relatively new"

"I'll call Eve, let her know. We'll try and retrieve it. Thanks, Sarah"

She cancelled the call and couldn't help but question - from where or when did this equipment appear. Only time would tell. However, perhaps time had best not, for some tales should never be known. Whether it be for sanity...

Or the sake of the universe.
