Chapter 1

It was sixth grade when I, Abbie Clark, found out what love really was. A boy I used to hate, I suddenly really liked, maybe even loved. The boy I liked changed the way I thought about love. I never knew what it was until I fell into it's grasp.

Sixth grade, I hated Matt Robinson. I hated him because he was so mean to my friends, and sometimes even me. For a science project, we were assigned to work together. At first, I thought this would be awful, but working with him wasn’t bad at all. He was really nice and funny.

Later on, he asked me some odd questions like “What’s your favorite color?,” “What type of music do you listen to?,” “Who is your favorite artist?” I told my friend, Kristy, about it. Kristy is the girl Matt is mean to. Kristy thought that Matt liked me.

In science class, we got to work on our projects. Matt and I were writing notes the whole time. After class, we finally got to go home. Kristy and Matt, both, go on my bus because they live near me. Kristy found us a seat and told me Matt was sitting close to me in Science. I said, “No, he wasn’t...really?” Kristy assured me that he was. I thought this odd because it felt natural.

During school, I would look at him a lot. Finally, I realized I really liked him; like actually had a crush on him.

Kristy invited me over to her house to hang out. My parents agreed since she was close by anyway. When I got there, we went up to her room to talk. We talked about how our science projects were going. Then, out of the blue, she asked me if I liked anyone. I thought about it for a moment before I said yes. Kristy asked me who, but I told her to guess. She first guessed her crush because she’s always worried if anyone else likes him. I tell her no. She thinks hard and laughs. Finally, she says, “Matt?” I give her no response, but she gets it anyway. She said he was good for me and definitely not good for her. After telling her, I felt like something else would happen with this soon, very soon.
