Chapter 23

Alyssa's POV

everything in life was actually going good for once.

but we all know how that it isn't going to last.

right when everyone was going to leave, Eric said "Can I get everyone's attention please?"

we all quieted down.

"I have an announcement." He says smiling, and takes Olivia's hands.

he gets on one knee and says

"Olivia, you don't know how much I love you. you mean the world to me. we've been together for about 4 years now, and with you, you made it the best 4 years of my life. Olivia, I love you. Will you marry me?" he pulls out a diamond ring, and Olivia gasps.

"Eric..." she says, and glances over at me.

I know that she likes Ricky, and she was planning to break up with him.

I shrugged, and everyone else watched her expecting her to say yes.

".. I don't think I'm ready to get married eric." she says quietly.

he smiles, and puts the ring away. "I'm ready, and whenever you are, remember, ill always love you"

Then he kisses her on the cheek and everyone else returns to talking and hanging out. Olivia walks over to me, and pulls me outside by the pool.

"What the hell just happened??" she says, shocked.

"it's going to be hard to break up with Eric.." I say.

she nods in reply, but there's suddenly a voice behind us.

"So that's why you said no" Eric hissed.

he walks over to us, I gasp as he grabs Olivia by her shoulders.

"there's another guy isn't there hm? Olivia I gave you everything." he starts to tear up, and Olivia glares at him.

"no you didn't." she replies.

"you only told me that you loved me twice. today, and when we first went out. I've been ignoring the fact that you just use me. back in high school, when ever you saw Gretchen, the most 'popular' girl in school, you would always grab my hand or kiss me. and don't act like that I didn't hear about you 2 hooking up. yet I ignored that hoping it was a rumor even though everyone with a brain knew it was true." Olivia began to break down in tears. "Eric you don't love me and it doesn't take a genius to understand it."

"Olivia, I do love you. that was senior year, grow up and get a grip" Eric sighs.

I could tell Olivia couldn't handle this, so I jumped in.

"Eric, just get off our property." I say, and push him out the fence.

he yells from the other side.

"This isn't over. and alyssa, i get you for this"

"yeah, yada-yada gtfo" I reply, and take Olivia inside.

She starts bursting into tears, as i pass her a tub of ice cream and a huge spoon.

She starts eating it, and i notice ricky looking over at us concerned.

I wave him over, and i whisper "Shes not handling her break up well" into his ear. 

He nods, and walks over to her and places his hand on her shoulder.

"Hey, Olivia?" He says softly.

"whut" She replies and wipes some of her tears. 

 "I know that a break up is hard, and i heard what you screamed outside. Everything gets better. If he cant notice how amazing you are, you would need someone who cares about you. someone who will always be there for you." He says

"r-really?" olivia says quietly, and looks into his eyes.

"really" He says, and kisses her.
