Today.

"You know, I can't quite remember the last time you genuinely smiled... Actually take that back, eight years ago today you brought up the idea of becoming robbers, I'd have to say, that was probably the most wickedest smile I've seen on your face. Probably even more crazy than when you pissed in Tracey Alexander's chocolate fountain."

Taking a chunk out of the cherry Twizzler nuzzled in Carter's hand she spoke between chews, "That bitch deserved it. Who has a chocolate fountain at a high school party anyway?" She pauses to swallow. "And why are you talking about me smiling?"

"I don't know, just thinking about back then I guess."

Carter eyed her brother from her spot in the passenger seat. His eyes stayed glued on the road while her's roamed his expression. His bottom lip was tucked underneath his top teeth, a tell tale that he was in either deep thought or nervous about something.

"What's up with you?" The question was harmless, not too aggressive because the last thing she wanted in that moment was an argument with him. He slightly shrugged, his eyes flickering to Carter than back to the road before relieving a sigh.

"Look, I know you don't want to talk about them but—" Cody was interrupted by the most exasperated sigh from his sister, in fact it was so exasperated that it could probably be called a groan. She began to scrub her face with her hands, before dragging them all the way down to where she was pulling her lip and eye lids.

     "Fine, forget I said anything."

"No, it's fine, just get it out now."

"Well, you know we're going to Abilene. And they were spotted there last. Not only that, but Carlos made it pretty obvious in our last conversation that we'd be 'competing' against another team. What are the odds of it being them?"

"Slim to none." Carter answered plain and simple after Cody's short ramble. She leaned her head towards him, her expression giving him that 'I strongly doubt it' look.

"Okay, okay. I get it. You don't think we'll see them. But all I'm trying to say is if there happened to be a scenario where we were to run into them, if you see Richie... Can you please withhold from punching him in the face and ruining the whole job?"

     "No promises."
