Today.
"I'm telling you now they're gonna be inside there," Cody breathes out as he cocks the heavy, black gun that weighed his hand to one side. The sweat beading on his forehead and his attempt at slow, comforting breathing was having trouble taking it's affect on him. Carter looked cool beside him, her light brown hair rested smoothly on her shoulders while black sunglasses propped themselves on the top of her head in a steady fashion. The freckles that speckled her cheeks seemed to pop up more and more as the sun came up.
"You ready?" She looked up and down at Cody, attempting to read all the motions he was going through as he swiped his soaked with sweat hair to one side. She ignored his assumption. Looking to the empty duffel bag sitting patiently on his lap he nodded as if it was a habit.
"Always," he mumbled before brushing his tongue over his dry, cracked lips. A slight grin tugged at the right side of her mouth as she stuffed the hand gun that sat in the glovebox into her pants and loaded the shotgun in between her legs.
"So you're just going to ignore me every time I mention them?" Cody asked again, watching his sister cautiously as they hopped out of the black car which hid them in a hidden shady area perfect for getting away.
A large sigh was released from Carter before she swung the shotgun around her shoulder and hung the duffel bag on the other. "They mean nothing to me, Cody. If they're here then we'll... adapt."
"That's your plan? Adapt?"
Pausing she drops her arms in a huff onto the sides of her body, "what do you want me to do? Shoot them dead the minute we see them? There's nothing we can do but walk in and see. I know you're nervous to see them, and I'm not going to lie to you, I kind of am too... but whenever I start to doubt myself I remember one thing, I'm better at everything than the Gecko's." Another wicked smile passes by his sister before she places her hand on the wooden door which opened to the bank.
"Now are you with me?"
Sighing Cody lifted up his shoulder into a half shrug. "Eh, why not?"
"Good." Stepping back and kicking the door open with the bottom of her sneaker Carter waltzes into the bank as if she owned the place. Which in her eyes she did. The shotgun which laid lazily on her left shoulder was swung up into her palms and aimed at the multiple bank tellers lined up against the wall with their arms tied behind them. "Of fucking course." Carter let out a huff, slamming her fist onto the table beside her.
"I don't want to say I told you so, but it's hard whe—"
"Save it. We still don't know if it's them."
"Now you're just in denial."
Carter placed the bottom of her shoe against a teller's neck, pressing it firmly against the wall as she cocked her head to one side. "Where are they?"
The man choked on his breath as he had trouble with a response, instead he diverted his eyes to a hallway that led to the back room. Carter recognized it from the blue prints, they must be already trying to crack the safe.
"Cody, watch the hostages. I'm gonna check out the back." Cody relieved the large breath he was holding in as his sister retreated her foot from the bank teller's neck and headed to the back. A feeling built up in his stomach that was filled with nothing but pure dread, the thought of Seth and Richie being only 20 feet from him and his sister made him sick to his stomach of what Carter would do.
