Hey guys I decided to post up this short story, which will only be a chapter long, since I was really proud of how it came out. I know it's not like my typical romance stories but I think it deserved some recognition. Hope you guys like it, even though it won't make up for my old stories, that I deleted, I hope you still like and comment on it!
———————————————————I inhaled the scent of pollen as I looked out of the agency's car window. The buildings and houses were blurs as they soon changed into trees of all types. I heard the laugh of my sister as, our dog, Max stuck his tongue, and head, out the window.
"Melanie, pull him in, you know pollen makes him start sneezing like crazy." I rolled my eyes as my sister simply turned more towards the window, leaving Max untouched.
"A-aachoo!" I felt Melanie flinch as Max started his sneezing frenzy.
"And so I'm right once again." I smile smugly as my sister 'hmphed' and flipped her auburn hair in my direction, in an attempt to hit me.
"Missed."
"We're here." Our agent, Emily Jones, or Ms.Jones, said as she turned off the car's engine.
In front of us stood a house that seemed like only rich people could afford it. I tried to remember why we were even here...
~THE DAY BEFORE~
"Woof! Woof!" I looked up from my phone screen to find Ms.Jones opening the door to our room.
"Woof! Woof!"
"Shhh!" Melanie sighed and grabbed Max, as he would not settle down.
"I honestly don't know how you two children convinced me to let you keep that dog here. Anyways, today is your lucky day kids! We have found a family that is willing to adopt the 3 of you. In fact, you guys are meeting them tomorrow. Start packing!"
~PRESENT~
"Why is this place in the middle of nowhere?" Melanie complained.
I nodded in agreement with my sister.
Ms.Jones turned to look at us with an irritated face. "Nonsense, we are just outside of town, about 5 miles or so."
"More like 50." I muttered.
As I looked at the house I started noticing all of its details. The surrounding woods made it so that the house gave off an eerie atmosphere. The house, itself, was 3 stories high with grey and white decorating its wooden structure. Slightly worn out poles surrounded the front yard. Along the wooden fence were some dark purple, blue, and white flowers, which seemed to have been planted that same week.I knew a bit about gardening as I used to help mother out in the yard. Sadly, 2 years ago me and Melanie were found parentless after that horrible day.
Two years ago, our parents got into a car accident, while driving me and Melanie to school. Apparently, we had both lost consciousness and woke up in the hospital. The doctors told us about the crash and how we hadn't suffered much, except for some stitches, bruises and a bit of amnesia. Anything before the crash was hazy and the doctors said that if any memories were lost, they probably were of no importance or would soon come back later. Though, I always felt like an important memory was lost. Since that day, I have felt as if I'm a puzzle with a missing piece. That a part of my life was missing.
"Why, hello!"I hadn't realized we had walked up the steps of the door.
"Come in!" A lady in her early 30's with light brown hair and a white blouse with black dress pants and heels, brought us in the house. There was a small red stain near the bottom of her pants that bothered me, but I just assumed it could've been a food or drink stain. She led us to a tall figure.
