As we walked down the oppressively hot hallways, I couldn't help but feel an intense chill in the air. After being briefed on the planned White Fang takeover, I can understand why. The coup is guaranteed to be a success. Only a handful of the White Fang were unaware of Sienna Khan's approaching death. It was this handful that caused the chill in the air. Rather, it was their fate that was the cause. All of them, even the fresh recruits, would have to be purged by the end of this.
Adam Taurus, my recently established ally, stopped before the throne room doors. Standing there was a large, solemn faced man. Peculiarly, he too was human. Given his staring, I gather he was as confused as I.
"Who are they? You never mentioned anyone else would be here", the man accusingly asked.
Adam merely dismissed his question, "They are just some hirelings I sent on a mission. They won't interfere with our audience with Sienna."
I raise an eyebrow to this. Why would he lie about this? What could he be hiding from this guy? Adam turns to me.
"See to your next assignment, mercenary", the bull faunus ordered.
I nod in acknowledgement. While I don't care for withholding information from allies, I suppose I'd play along. Turning about-face, I march off with Brittany, Elizabeth, and Edward in tow. We are escorted by two guards who are in the dark about the coup. Or so I at least assumed they were ignorant. Adam told me beforehand that all loyal faunus had a red armband. If these guards didn't wear the armband, then either they were marked to die or too stupid to remember wearing them. Either scenario works for me. I don't care for foolish followers.
Obviously, the guards need to die. Not immediately, though. If I kill them here, Sienna Khan might find out about the coup before its too late. Besides, the location of a strategic kill can be just as opportune as its time. The entrance to the complex passes by the security depot, and once we come near it, we'll strike. For now, we will be patient.
We pass by the hallways toward the main barracks. I whistle a little tune after we come across the security depot, signalling my team. Edward rammed- no, crushed the guard on my left. As for the guard on my right, a bloody pool and a corpse with a clawed out throat was swiftly all that Brittany left of him. Now all there was between us and total control of the complex was an iron door.
"Elizabeth, open it", I command.
The malachite haired faunus complied. She stood before the door and, with disciplined concentration, unleashed her semblance upon it. The steel door frame began to swell as if it were a trash bag being filled. My ears strain as the door creaks and whines from the every increasing pressure of the steel frame. Suddenly, the iron door, for lack of better words, snapped. An enormous crack ran down the doorway, now a fragile and useless defense. Elizabeth stepped back and turned to Edward. He huffed once and with a single swing of his obsidian mace he bashed the iron curtain off it's shattered frame, crashing thunderously into the security depot.
Inside were a pair of White Fang guards sitting before several screens and a security grid. They jumped out of their chairs in shock at the forced intrusion. I casually glance at their arms.
"No armbands, huh?", I idly speak.
"Gaston! Sound the-"
Before the guard could finish, Brittany lashed out, igniting the fire dust in Succubi, and unleashed a stream of fire that consumed him. He continued on burning as his fellow had his throat tied by the steel wires of Brittany's gloves. She took her time reeling him in, enjoying the frantic and terrified struggling he put up. Once the poor man was at her feet, she injected him with fire dust and left him to die.
