What About Him

Jeanie was in her room with her friends Anita, Angelina, and Anette.

"Are you sure you don't want any popcorn, Jeanie?" - Anette

"--And what about the chocolate?" - Anita

Anette and Anita asked one after the other, as Jeanie nodded yes.

"You're oddly quiet tonight, Jeanie. Is something wrong?" - Angelina

Angelina tilted her head curiously at Jeanie.

"I'm fine, thank you. I just feel a little... lightheaded." - Jeanie

Angelina could visibly see Jeanie's shakiness, like a little puppy in the rain.

"Are you sure? Do you need something to eat other than popcorn or chocolate?" - Angelina

" I'm positive. " - Jeanie

Jeanie slid off of her bed, and onto the soft carpet floor. She sat criss-cross next to Angelina, Anita, and Anette.

"Maybe she wants a suitor for prom in a few months." - Anette

Jeanie perked her head upwards towards Anette with a bewildered facial expression.

Anette took her phone from her left jean pocket. She started scrolling through some class photos. Anette turned the phone to Jeanie, pointing her finger to Kris, the quarterback.

" He's too simple-minded for my tastes. I prefer guys with smarts, but if they're quiet and down-to-earth, that's fine too." - Jeanie

Anette turned her phone around to herself, scrolling through the photos again. She stopped, raising her eyebrows somewhat, turning the phone to Jeanie. In the picture was a guy holding his hands in front of his face to avoid being fully seen in the shot. By the shy demeanour and small hands, Jeanie could tell it was Aaron, a guy in her class she didn't talk to that much, but she thought was interesting.

"What About Him?" - Anette

"Well, he's a really nice guy from the few times I've spoken to him. I feel as though he'd be too shy to be my "suitor", as you intimated, Anette. He's a great guy, though." - Jeannie

"Bummer." - Anette

Anette scrolled through her phone once again, deeming it impossible to find a match for her, yet only after two tries.
