S U M M A R Y

Miles Blakely has been Ally Briggs' neighbour for as long as she can remember. He wasn't always a bad kid. He used to be so innocently sweet. Now? A complete idiot. Ally doesn't know what happened to him, but she doesn't like the way he turned out.

There are two things she hates most in the world. Change, Miles Blakely, and green vegetables. Except for lettuce. Okay, maybe 3 things.

A new year, a new Ally, and this one doesn't imply bloodsucking hatred for Miles Blakely or glaring at the back of his head. She plans on keeping her circle small and her head down this time around. This means ending her one-sided feelings of hatred towards Miles with the help of her best friend, Macy Jones. She's better off focusing her energies on more important things, like making sure Macy doesn't try to 'branch out' as she continues to suggest.

There's just one problem. After all these years of hatred, all it takes is one glance to bring his eyes to hers, and the one thing she didn't want to happen this year—or any year at Paton High—happens. That thing is change. While it wouldn't be a problem if branching out included Ally, unfortunately, she fears it's unlikely. All she knows, is that when things change, there will be consequences that make sure nothing ever goes back to the way it was.

So despite her wishes, things are changing—except for a few. Miles just won't quit, her best friend persists to make new friends, and she has a buttload of homework. Now she has to think about losing Macy, keeping her grades up, and planning a murder. The cherry on top? Ally Briggs fears she's being torn in two. She's always being distracted by detestable Miles Blakely, making it impossible to keep tabs on her best friend. What happens when Ally forgets to keep her eye on the ball and things take a turn for the worst?
