The party was amazing, filled with laughter and celebration. But as the night wound down, I knew there was something I needed to do.
I called him after, and he picked up almost instantly.
"I'm sorry for how I acted these past few days," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "And... Happy Birthday."
"It's nothing," he replied, his tone soft. "But I've been wondering... why did you ignore me?"
My heart raced. Should I tell him? Could I?
"It's okay if you don't want to tell me, though," he added, trying to ease the tension.
I knew this was my only chance. It was now or never.
"Actually, Taehyung... there's something I really need to tell you," I began, my voice trembling.
"What is it?" he asked, his gaze steady and curious.
"The reason I ignored you," I started, my heart pounding, "was because I... I like you. And I got jealous when I saw you with someone."
The words spilled out before I could stop them. For a moment, he just stared at me, his expression unreadable, and the silence felt like it would swallow me whole.
"You don't need to say anything," I blurted, the awkwardness tightening in my chest. "Or feel bad. I know you don't like me that way, but I just... I just wanted you to know. I have to go now."
Before he could respond, I turned and ran.
"Wait, Y/N!" I heard him call after me, but I couldn't stop. I didn't want to hear him say something that might shatter what little was left of my heart.
Tears stung my eyes as I whispered, "I'm sorry. Goodbye, Taehyung."
