                  ~FINALLY! THE ACTUAL ADVENTURE BEGINS!~

"Though I did find that mean Max," I told Max as we walked through Oldale town, "That was pretty fast thinking to get away from my mom. I tell ya, that woman wouldn't stop talking to you for hours and hours!"

When Max and I were about to walk out to Route 103, I stopped. I wanted to see if that jerk from earlier was still there or not. I grinned as I saw that he had left. Though I wanted to turn back and explore Route 102, I knew that lead to the next town. So I decided to go to Route 103 first. There wasn't much there... I saw land across a large lake or something, but Max doesn't know Surf... and I can't swim...

I looked around a little more, wondering what kind of Pokemon was in here. There were a few Zigzagoon and Poochyenas here, so I just let Max defeat them so he could train up a little. When I decided it was time to go back, a Wingull flew out of the grass. I've always wanted a Wingull! I decided to try to catch it. "Max, let's get that Wingull!" I said. Max gave a powerful cry, ready to fight. The Wingull took notice to this. I saw the determination in it's eyes, and it was as ready as we were.

The Wingull shot a Water Gun at us. Max dodged it swiftly. "Alright Max!" I cheered, "Now quick! Use Pound!" Max obeyed without hesitation, and sped straight towards the Wingull. But as he threw his fist foward, the Wingull shot up into the air. Max stopped, and stood there, staring up at our opponent. "Hey! No fair!" I shouted at the Wingull. It's flying abilities gave it a huge advantage. Not only are grass types weak against flying types, but since Wingull can fly, I don't think we'll be able to hit it.

The Wingull flew back down, and shot another Water Gun at Max. He wasn't expecting it this time, and water hit him right in the face. He stood there for a moment, blinking the water from his eyes, than he wiped his face furiously, his face turning red. The Wingull laughed. I couldn't help giggling a little. He was all wet...

Max glared at me, and I flinched a little. He had a very intimidating stare. "M-Max," I studdered, "Use Pound!" Max's expression turned from anger to determination as he sprang into the air. The Wingull looked shocked before Max punched it right in the face. That was so cool! I had no idea Max could do that!

The Wingull fell to the ground with a loud thud. Max landed in front of it. I ran over to them, and looked over to the Wingull. The Wingull groaned in pain. Max gave a cry, and for the first time I knew what it meant. I knew it was a good time to catch the Wingull, but it looked so hurt. It had a huge bruise across it's face from Max. I was a little proud of Max for how strong he was getting, but I focused my attention on the Wingull. I didn't want it to suffer.

I took out the potion that the Pokemart manager gave me, and I sprayed it onto the bruise. The Wingull's eyes slowly opened, and it flapped it's long, thin wings as it jumped up, and stood back on it's tiny feet. It gave out a strange cry, and flew over my head and onto my back. "H-hey!" I cried. Max jumped up and tried to grab the Wingull, but the Wingull dodged just in time for him to fly right past me, and he fell face first onto the ground. "Max!" I cried, running to his side. I helped him up, and the Wingull gave out another strange cry. I looked behind me to see it with a Pokeball in front of it. It tapped the button with it's long beak, and was captured in the Pokeball. Max and I stood there in shock. The Pokeball shook a little, and then glowed, making a strange low beeping noise. I walked over to the Pokeball, and picked it up. My mind was blank. It actually captured itself. But I did it. I got a Wingull. I got a Wingull... I turned to Max, with my biggest smile, holding the ball triumphantly. "I CAUGHT MY FIRST POKEMON!!" I shouted in triumph. I was filled with joy. Max smiled and started walking over to me. I rushed to him and gave him a big hug, laughing. It was a little strange that the Wingull caught itself, but I didn't care. I caught my first Pokemon! Whether I threw the ball or not!

Max and I made our way back to the Oldale town Pokemon Center. The nurse there was very nice, and took care of both of my Pokemon.

Once we left the Pokemon Center, Max and I headed to Route 102. By that time, my stomach growled. Max looked at me and smirked. "Aheh heh..." I said with a sheepish smile, "Wanna take a lunch break?" Max and I sat next to each other by the small lake near the entrance of Route 102. I took out the packed lunch my mom made for me. A few ham sandwiches, a bag of grapes and a small bag of my favorite chocolate chip cookies. I took a bite out of one of the sandwiches. "Yum~!" I squeaked in delight. I looked to Max. He wasn't eating. "You're not hungry?" I asked. Max looked to the sandwiches. He seemed to force himself not to eat, but I heard his stomach growl. "Go ahead and eat," I told him with a sincere smile, "It's okay." Max hesitantly took a sandwich, and started eating. "I would think you'd be hungry after all of those battles Max," I said, "You've been training a lot." Though I never said much about it, Max and I have been battling a lot of Pokemon since we started our journey. Simple Zigzagoons and Poochyenas came out left and right, and though we breezed right through them, they just wouldn't stop coming. Max was very strong, but he's been working hard.

Just then, I thought of the Wingull. "Maybe our new friend would like something to eat." I said, taking out the Pokeball it was captured in. I pressed the button, and in a red beam of light, the Wingull appeared. "Hi there!" I greeted it cheerfully, "That was hard battle huh? Want something to eat?" I held out a sandwhich to it, and it took the sandwhich with great joy. It landed next to me, nibbling on the sandwhich. "I wanna name you..." I thought out loud, "But I don't know what gender you are..." I was obviously talking about the Wingull. I took out my Pokedex. "I wonder if this will tell me..." I murmured, flipping open the top of the Pokedex. The small screen lit up. Now for the real challenge: How the heck do you work this thing?

I moved my Pokedex in front of my new Wingull, and in an electronic voice, the device spoke, "Wingull, the Seagull Pokémon. It makes its nest on a sheer cliff at the edge of the sea. It has trouble keeping it's wings flapping in flight. Instead, it soars on updrafts." It said the word "processing" on the screen, and then showed the Wingull's status. The Pokedex entry stated that this Wingull was female, level 2, had a hardy nature, and had the ability Keen Eye. Keen Eye? What did that do? I had heard of abilities before, but since there are so many, I can't remember them for the life of me. But I didn't care. Right now all I cared about is naming my Wingull.

"So, you're a girl..." I thought out loud again, "What to name you...?" I stroked my imaginary gotee. I heard Max snicker a little, and the Wingull gave me the strangest look. I didn't care.

I knew that the name had to be kind of catchy, suits the nature, strength, or personality of the Pokemon, so... "You're name shall be Wilma!" I exclaimed, pointing to the Wingull. It was a name I just thought of randomly! "Um..." I said, "Unless you don't like that name...?" The Wingull seemed to have thought long and hard about that for a moment. Her eyes lit up, and she gave out a cry with a wide smile. She must like that name. "Alright!" I said, "You're name is Wilma!" Wilma gave out a happy cry.

We all finished our lunch, and we still had left overs for dinner. "Let's gooooo!" I said. And the three of us marched foward, ready and willing to stop any foe that stands in the way of our Pokemon journey! I go foward with a happy heart as my new friends Wilma and Max are by my side, and I hope that-

Plop.

I hope that-

Plop.

Oh crap...

Plop. Plop. Plop.

At that point, the three of us hid under the leaves of a large tree as a storm began to rage. "Why did it have to rain noooooooooooowww?!!" I cried, which seemed to summon a thunderous boom, accompanied by the flash of lighting. Max, Wilma and I stayed there for most of the day... but why now though?!
