Kody's POV

"I need help," I ran to Lumine the second I rounded the corner.
"Who was that?" Lumine had a sadder look in his eyes.

"I'll explain everything while we walk home," I replied, my voice trembling since I was still shaken from the recent events.

"Okay, so you saw that girl I was with right?" Lumine nodded his head, silent.

"So we were paired together to do a group project. She's a very talkative girl so I started to zone out and I just went into autopilot mode.

Then she said that she liked me a lot and asked me out, and me, still on autopilot I said sure.. and I can't figure out a way to tell her I didn't mean it." Lumine looked relieved in a way.

"So what can I do to help with that?" He questioned, his eyebrows raising in interest and confusion. I thought for a minute.

"Can you break up with her for me?"
Lumine tripped over a rock and stumbled trying to stay upright.

"Hey, look we're home and I have some homework to do so, bye!" He dashed into the house, staggering and almost falling over the grass in his rush.

Scrunching my face up in bewilderment, I shrugged off his weird behavior and went up to my room trying to think of a plan.

Lumine's POV

I sprinted up the stairs to my room and slammed the door behind me, my heavy breathing was the only sound I could hear, echoing through the room, seemingly bouncing off the windows and painted white walls.

"WHY ME?" I screamed into my pillow, sobs leaving my lips.

"Lumine?" Aiden stood in my doorway with a concerned look. Tears still streaming down my face, I looked up at Aiden, quietly mumbling a, "Yes?" He came and sat down on my bed.

"What's wrong?" "Nothing," I muttered, the word feeling foreign on my tongue.

"Is it about Kody?" He put a hand on my shoulder. Tears beginning to flow and I snapped, "NO! I'M FINE!" Aiden sighed leaving my room and shutting the door behind him.

An agitated breath escaped my lips, slowly running my fingers through my hair. Biting the inside of my cheek, I choked down another sob, forcing myself to stop.

I sighed, the thought ringing through my head again. Why me?

Kody's POV

I could hear crying from the other room, but before I could go to "investigate," my phone rang. It was a number I didn't recognize. I picked up the phone, pressing it to my ear.

"Hello?"

"Hey, baby! It's Nikki!"
