Starry Nights

chapter 1

It’s been the same routine for months;

Fight for hours on end with no breaks, try to get as much sleep as you can then get back out to fight.

The paladins were all extremely on edge, not only from a lack of sleep but also the thought of how long they had until their next battle. This was putting a strain on all of their relationships with each other- especially Allura and Shiro.

Shiro was the leader of voltron, incharge of making the decisions and plans on how to win their battles and Allura was incharge of monitoring the enemy, telling the paladins when they needed to suit up and get to their lions.

The couple had no time for each other anymore and when they did it always ended in arguments and Shiro being sent to sleep on the couch. Of course they both loved eachother deeply but they were stressed, and it showed.

“Allura, sweetheart please just talk to me! I know things are bad but you can't just keep locking me out..” Shiro sighed resting his forehead against the now locked door of their bedroom.

Allura kept herself hidden under the sheets trying to ignore him. She knew he was right but she really wasn't in any mood to give in. “Yes I can, I'm doing it right now. If you're just going to start yelling at me you can stay there.”

Shiro knew he messed up once again but he didn't want to blame either of them. The war they were fighting had them under so much pressure that even the slightest sound made them jump. It was for the safety of the universe and their home planets, they had to do this and had no choice.

Lance luckily was making his way to his room when Shiro spotted him. “Hey Lance, could you tell Allura to let me in?”  he practically begged only getting a shake of his head in response. “Sorry man, Allura kinda scares me when she gets like this so i think you're better off on the couch tonight.”

‘Tonight just keeps getting better and better. First I almost got my teammates killed and now my girlfriend won't talk to me!’ He thought sliding down against the door. “Allura please just let me in!’ he whined before falling backwards onto the floor. He groaned and stared up in confusion at first but then smiled seeing her face. “Why hello there princess.”

“Shiro don't test me and just get in.” she huffed, turning on her heels and wrapping herself back up in the blankets.

He slowly stood up and made his way to the bed, pulling her close. “Look I'm sorry, I didn't mean to yell at you. Everything's just a mess right now and it sucks a lot.” he sighed running his hand through her hair almost immediately feeling her relax at his touch. “And I know how much stress is being put on you, sweetheart you’re the heart of voltron who barely has time to eat or sleep and--” He was interrupted by the castleships alarms causing both of them to bolt upright. Allura jumped out of bed in her pajamas and sprinted to the control room while Shiro suited up and ran to his lion along with the rest of the team. Keith's dark circles looked even worse than the day before, Lance was mumbling half of his words due to lack of sleep and Pidge and Hunk were extremely jumpy. “Alright team it's just a robobeast, we got this. Form Voltron!” and with his call all five lions Black, Red, Green, Blue and Yellow all combined to form the unstoppable defender of the universe; Voltron.
