Starry Nights

chapter two

After only a few hours later that to the Paladins felt like a million deca phebes, they finally won and made their ways back to safety. everyone came back mostly untouched with only a few bruises here and there from getting thrown around in battle, but overall they were fine. Shiro took the time to congratulate his friends before sending them off to get well deserved rest as he ran to find Allura. It was a routine of theirs after a battle to find and make sure the other was okay, it was one of the only ways to keep their minds at ease.

Allura was the one who really started this little tradition after almost all of her family were killed in the same war, but Shiro did not oppose to it ever. He had his own experience with the Empire as they captured him and tortured him. Within a year they had taken his right arm and replaced it with a cyborg one, also giving him lifelong PTSD to go along with it, and a scar running across his nose from what Allura said seemed like a muzzle.

Once he found her she came running at him, engulfing him in a loving embrace. “I take it you missed me princess?” he hummed placing a kiss on her nodding head.

“Well of course I did, I always miss you when you have to go out.” she replied squeezing him a little tighter then she already was. “Now go get changed and take a shower.” she chuckled. He nodded and held her face in his hands, giving her one last kiss before walking off.

Once he got that over with he quickly made his way to the kitchen where everyone was called to eat. Finally for the first time in what seemed like forever everything was calm and happy, no worries about the Galra or fighting, just friends being friends-no not friends, this was his family. He always wanted them to be safe and happy and right now they all were, and he never wanted it to end. Shiro smiled as he walked past Allura, placing a kiss on the top of her head before sitting down beside her. “So, I guess it’s that goo again?” this earned him a nod from everyone and a very proud one from coran. “Of course, it’s the quickest way to make sure you all get enough vitamins, minerals and stuff like that.”  

“Well maybe you could find a way to make it taste a bit better.” keith shrugged as he shoveled spoonfuls of the tasteless goo into his mouth regardless of what he just said.

Lance took this oppertunity to mock Keith a little who eventually saw and the two started bickering, obviously.

After dinner the paladins finally got the rest they needed, although sleeping was hard they eventually got a couple hours.

"Shiro, are you going to come to bed?" Allura asked sleepily, looking over at her lover standing in the bathroom. He gave her a small nod, washing his face with a sigh. "Yes just..one moment okay?"
"Alright, just don't stay there all night. You need your rest." She muttered, snuggling herself into the blankets.

Not too long after Shiro joined her, pulling her close and nuzzling into her hair. "Finally came to bed.."
"Just go back to sleep princess, you need it." He muttered, kissing the nape of her neck before peacefully dozing off.
