[FORGE] Sparks Flying W.I.P.

Another pair of characters I can't help shipping in The Alchemist Forge is Razr and Wicket because these two hate each other so much and are in constant competition. And their names combined as a ship name is the funniest thing! RaCket! And they are a racket indeed when they are together.

Figure posing- first I posed my art figures in the pose I wanted to draw and I taped them to the table because it's impossible to get these two to stand each other (pun intended!)

Sketch- then I sketched out Razr and Wicket. They're totally a match, even if not made in heaven. Maybe they actually were meant for each other after all!

Inking- I knew I wanted a really dark background and so to give myself wiggle room for the paint I made a big black border around them.

Colors- here's all my materials I used for the colors.

Background- I paint in the background, leaving the characters mostly white. I first go in with Black in varying levels of water and then I go over it from top to bottom in red, orange, yellow, and brown. It's ok that I got a little on the characters because it makes them blend into their environment.

Colors- I color the characters mostly in alcohol markers except for the faces and whiter areas of metal. I do those in glitter white watercolor stuff. I also make the eyes glow using pink glitter watercolor for Wicket and yellow for Razr. Then I go over their bodies and make them shiny enough for Tamatoa to be proud.

Splatter and Streak- I cover the faces with masking tape. Then I water down some of my metallic watercolors and flick my brush at the picture. I also add gold and copper streaks to make it look like sparks are raining down from the sky due to all the active volcanos of Mortari.

Final product- I touch up my ink work in some areas, add in the final touches, remove the tape, and then I let it dry.
