A/n: This chapter was written by xXPenAndPaperXx ! If you haven't already, go follow her. She's a great writer and she's a talented artist.

Foxkit hissed and growled at her opponent, who was pinned under her paws. She pressed her muzzle close to Bluekit's menacingly, "I'm a hungry fox and I'm going to kill you and eat you! I eat Clan Warriors for breakfast!"
The young cat lifted up her head to the sky and let out an ear-piercing caterwaul that was cut short as Bluekit's sister, Graykit, barreled into her side and Foxkit was flung to the dirt-covered ground about a mouse-length away.
"Backup!" The siblings cried together in victory and Foxkit hissed.
   "Not fair!" She whined.
Sootface and Jayspirit chuckled from their place outside of the nursery and Foxkit shot her mother a displeased look, then readied herself to pounce on Graykit's turned back, but before she could, her mother called her back into the nursery, "Come on, Foxkit, you've been playing all day and I think you need a nap."
"No!" Foxkit protested urgently, "I want to stay outside and play with Bluekit and Graykit!"
Though Foxkit had only one sib- no, wait Foxkit didn't have any siblings. So why did she keep thinking she did? She knew she'd been Sootface's only kit and even though she looked nothing like her mother, they had a bond too strong to break.
"Actually," Jayspirit put in, " I think that Bluekit and Graykit need a rest too."
The two cats that had felt like siblings to Foxkit since the very beginning complained too, but they were all eventually herded into the nursery and Foxkit settled into a comfortable spot next to her mother and closed her eyes, feeling Sootface's long, warm tongue brush over her fur. Eventually, the rhythmic scraping of the queen's cleaning and the in and out of her breathing, lulled Foxkit to sleep.

Foxkit woke to an empty nest, but the smell of Sootface coming towards the den mixed with something she'd smelled before, but couldn't quite place, calmed her. The smell was dense and salty and delicious, but not as sweet as her mother's milk.
Foxkit looked over and saw Jayspirit sleeping with a protective paw over her two kits. She lay in the nest for a few more moments, her body feeling heavy after the long sleep. Eventually, she managed to push herself up with her paws and arched her back, stretching. She opened her mouth wide in a luxurious yawn before fumbling clumsily over and out of the nest. She flopped onto the nursery floor then got up and shook herself before scrambling out of the nursery.
Sootface was sitting a little ways away and only looked up when Foxkit called out to her,
"Sootface!"
Her mother lifted her head slightly.
"Oh! Foxkit, I didn't know you'd be up so soon!"
She finished her prey and flicked her tail before getting up and hustling her daughter back into the nursery.
"Sootface!" A voice called out from behind them, making the she-cat spin around.
A sleek gray-furred she-cat was running towards them, making Foxkit stop and turn around.
"Pigeoncloud?" The queen answered the warrior.
"Can you come on dawn patrol with us tomorrow? You can leave Foxkit to play with Jayspirit's two kits." Then added quickly, "I'm sure she'll be fine, I've seen how well they get along." Sootface still looked worried.
"Please?" Foxkit put in, feeling a rush of hope to get to play with her den-mates, "I promise I'll be good and safe!"
Her mother looked from cat to cat and back again before bowing her head. "Yes, sure, I miss being outside in the forest, anyways."   Foxkit bounced on her paws and Pigeoncloud let out a purr and nuzzled the queen.
"Alright, see you at dawn." Sootface told the warrior who had begun to pad away. "Besides, it's getting late."
Foxkit felt her heart sink. "But I just slept!" She whined.
"Yes, well, a growing kit needs lots of sleep." She said firmly, and bent over, grabbing her kit by the scruff, then slid back into the den.
Foxkit wiggled and squirmed, but it was no use and she was soon plunged into the wool of her nest. Not feeling tired, she decided to ask her mother a few questions. "Was Pigeoncloud your best friend? Like me and Bluekit and Graykit?"
The queen laughed. "Well, yes, but she's also my sister."
"Oh!" replied Foxkit. She could see it now, they both had dark gray fur (though on her mother they were color points on her white fur) and the same blue eyes. "Do I have any siblings?" She asked suddenly.
"No, no." Sootface said quickly, sharply, and pained? Foxkit shook it off, she was probably just tired.
"Well you and your friends will be apprentices in a couple of days, right?" The white-gray she-cat asked, changing the subject.
Foxkit sat up. Yes! We'll be Foxpaw, Bluepaw, and Graypaw!
"Yes! Yes! Yes!" She mewed, excited and suddenly not thinking about the strange feeling she kept getting, "In only two days!" She squealed so loudly, Graykit stirred and Jayspirit lifted her head and shushed her sharply. Sootface chuckled softly.
"Sorry!" Foxkit whisperd half-heartedly, and burrowed herself into the woolly heather then squeezed her eyes closed. If I go to sleep it'll be tomorrow in no time!
Now, it was about moonhigh and though she tried, she couldn't go to sleep. Thoughts ran through her head endlessly and now the strange instinct she couldn't push away was back. She was suddenly happy for a littermate who didn't, couldn't exist. Her mother had confirmed that, and why would she ever lie? Sootface had laid her head down, probably trying to get some sleep before the dawn patrol.
Suddenly, she had the sudden urge to explore the forest territory around her camp. It tugged at her heart, like fate pulling her. She got up and this time, leaped gracefully over the barrier of her nest.
After slipping out of the den, she headed into the clearing, her paws carrying her. She paused only briefly before heading after a trail that smelled like nothing she'd ever smelled before.
Suddenly, she stopped and saw tall, arching trees all around her. She suddenly didn't know the way back.
And, worst of all, she felt a presence and saw a flash of fur through a bush.

Again, go follow Wildfire! She's a great writer, and she made up the character of Foxkit. She'll write all the odd numbered chapters, and I'll write the even ones.
Oh and I wrote the prologue.
