Everyone had left except for Auston and I. He promised me he'd let me play, and so we did.

I already had my equipment in the trunk of my car, coming into the stadium and Auston already had pucks all over the ice.

"Good game, Aus." I hugged him, immediately regretting it because he smelled like absolute garbage. I wanted to barf.

"Ah, that is the smell of a winner." He nudged me. I got onto the ice and started collecting pucks.

"Did you see the puck bunnies for Islanders? It was ridiculous."

"Yeah, I saw. But you're the biggest puck bunny I've ever met." I passed him a puck.

"Take it back."

"No." I skated around, grabbing a one with my stick while I was at it.

I could feel Auston coming hot on my heels. He poked me with his stick and I didn't know what else to do.

There was a slight tension between us when we both stopped to look at each other. That was a face I looked at all the time. I supported him and he supported me, and that's all I needed.

"I love you." Auston told me. I felt nothing when he said that. As much as I do love Auston, it was in a brotherly way and that's all I could think of him.

"I—wha—"

"I love you, Beatrice. I always have. And I knew that this would be the last game you'd be able to see in person, so I really tried today. For you. Cause I want you, Beatrice. And I want only you."

"Auston, I just, I don't know. Okay? You're my best friend—merely a brother. I can't, I can't be with you, the way you want us to be."

He swallowed, "Please. Just give me a chance. You won't regret it. I promise you won't."

"Auston, no."

"Are you in love with someone else? Is that why you're making excuses?" Auston came a little closer, starting to make me nervous. I backed up.

"Tell me, tell me you're not in love with anyone else."

"Auston—I love William. I'm sorry."

He said nothing else. Auston continued to play around with the puck as I started skating off.

"Beatrice." Auston called out. I turned around and all I saw was his stick go up and a puck came flying towards me.

Auston

Yeah I fucking hit her with a slapshot. I'm not just gonna beat her with my stick.

"Lil bitch." I kicked her. There was a gash on her face, and it clearly knocked her out.

The blood pooled around her quickly. I shrugged my shoulders and left her to bleed out, "I'm the only one who can love Nylander."

Stupid hoe.
