Chapter 15 Don't be sorry

Natsu's POV~
"We won our first battle but there are many to come! So we need even more training!" Ember says happily, "Lilly, Thorn, and Happy all of you go scout the area. Rose and Lucy both of you go by the lake for meditation. Natsu, you and I will work on magic." Ember instructs us. Ember seems to know alot about battle plans... Everyone goes to were they are supposed to be. Leaving me and Ember, I have to admit... Ever since I came back I have felt uncomfortable around all of them. They all seem to hate me.. Well mostly Thorn... "su? Natsu? Are you litening?" Ember asks. "No.. Sorry..." I hesitate before asking a question, "Ember.. Can ask you... How did you meet Luce? And how long have you known that she is Lucy Heartfillia?" Ember looks at me and only smiles. "I met her in Hargion, my home town. It was a month after her funeral. I was in the woods, learning my magic. When I heard a noise coming from the tree's." Ember stops for a moment, "I caught sight of her in the trees... Her face wasn't covered but she didn't look at all like she did in pictures... Her eyes were dull and lifeless... Her skin looked like with a single touch it could break... She
looked like she hadnt slept or ate in days... I didn't even notice it was her at first.. I helped her, fed her, gave her somewhere to sleep. Soon I noticed her hand... It had a pink, faded Fairy Tail guild mark. I relized that I didn't know her name.. She told me that it was Veronica Heart. I didn't find out till she became a little better and started to look like her old self... Then she told me everything." Ember explains. "And.. You don't hate me?" I ask hesitantly. "Well.. I was really angry.. But she didn't blame you or Fairy Tail.. Like.. She had no anger... She is so strong to go through that..." Ember says as she makes a bow appear. "How did you-" I start to ask but stop, is her magic... "What is your magic.." I ask Ember. She looks at me as she prepares to shoot an arrow. "That easy..." Ember starts, as she does she pulls back her bow. She looked like a master at it, like she had been doing this her whole life. "I am a Archery Requip mage." She says as she let's go of the arrow. In the air in it multiplies into 3 arrows covered in fire. It hit it's mark right on the dot. "Woah..." I look at in awe as the flames start to dance... It's not like my flames... All my flames do is destroy things... "I want you to manipulate the fire." Ember commands, this will be easy! I've done this before! I try to control the fire, but it grows out of control! Suddenly it disapears without a trace of it ever being there.
"I see that the training is not going well?" I hear Luce's voice say.
I turn around and find her standing there with her arms crossed. "Were you warching us?" I ask. "No, I saw the smoke so I came. Natsu, you will train with me instead. Ember go over some fighting stances with Rose." Ember gives a nod amd walks over to Rose. "Follow me" Luce says as she walks to the forest. I follow her, I still feel guilty for everything... I have said I'm sorry.. But I feel like I haven't said it at all.. We get to the lake quickly. "Natsu, I want you to remember the first time you used the flames of emotion.." Luce explains. "Ok?" I close my eyes and concentrate. I think of when I first used it... I was fighting... What was his name? Whatever I was fight wind dude, I fell off the tracks and down into the cliff, then I used them. "Nothing? Hmmm" I hear Luce ponder. "Think of a time where you were happy or felt a strong emotion." Luce tells me. "Ok.." I try thinking of everything I love, food, Fairy Tail, fighting, Igneal, nothing... 'Think of a time where you felt a strong emotion' I hear Luce say in my head.
A strong emotion? For some reason the first thing that pops into my mind is Luce. Her smile, her true smile, makes me happy. Her laugh makes me happy. Her beautiful honey brown eyes that have this spark of love in them. Her in general. I think of the days I spent with her, where I saw all of those things. I think of the days where I ignored her. And I think of the day when I held her 'dead body' in my arms.. The tears I shed.. The pain I felt of losing her... The happiness I felt when I was around her.. The love I have for her... I feel heat surround me, but I ignore it. I think of Luce. Just Luce in general. How much I love her.. How much I wanted to wake up and kiss her right away... But after she left I didn't think of that... I felt nothing.. Because I am nothing without her... She stole my heart without knowing it.. I hear Luce gasp in what I hope is in awe. I open my eyes slowly to be greeted with my flames- no... My flames burn and destroy things.. These flames... Were dancing... Kinda like what Ember did, but these.. These were dancing on water... I felt like they showed all I felt through these past few years... I turn to look at Luce to see she is staring at it... And smiling.. Like she remembers how the good days were... "Luce..." I start but stop myself.. She looks at me, and I see that spark of love for a moment before reality sets in... We are not in the past.. We are here now.. And it will never be the same.. "Luce.. I am so sorry.. For back then.." I say carefully. I see her eyes widen but she looks away.. I see tears build up in her eyes... "Don't be sorry... It was my mistake for thinking I could ever be part of a family... My fault for trusting you.." She says before she starts to walk off. I don't know what comes over me, but I grab her wrist and pull her close. I blush slightly as I see we onky have a few centimeters away from our lips. I think about doing it, kissing her. And just as I am about to make that decision I hear something... Like... Screaming?! Luce quickly looks away, in the direction of the scream.. "Lilly"
