I know...I know, I haven't uploaded in a while but I had gone for a vacation, so I'm sorry! Also this is the second last chapter :((((((. Anyway... here's chapter 8
<><><><>
The NYPD was in a mess. They had sent teams to search the entire town in search of Lilly Lieberman. Banks were being overlooked for any suspicious activities. All the restaurants, cafes and hotels were being surveyed.
“Come on. The bank reports just came” says Fillman while passing Stevenson’s desk.
“Okay, so I have separated the reports according to withdrawals and deposits. Out of the deposits I have separated the ones above 1 million” says a detective while handing them the reports.
“Thanks” replies Stevenson.
“Ok, let’s see the withdrawals above 1 million first.”
“Huh, not many and none of them look suspicious…hold on…holy shit! There's a withdrawal is for 5 billion.”
“Oh my God…who withdraws 5 billion?!”
“More importantly who has so much money?…let’s see whose account it is. It’s a joint account. Oh...look who the owners are.”
“Lilly and Logan Lieberman”
“Well then, let’s go pay Mr. Lieberman a visit. Shall we?”
<><><><>
Detectives Fillman and Stevenson parked in front of the Lieberman’s residence. Their house – no, not house – mansion, was beautiful. It had a beautiful driveway with a large fountain and Greek sculptures, with expensive cars parked in the driveway.
But both the detectives did not pay much attention to their surroundings as they were in a hurry. They went inside to find that the house was empty.
“Hello? Anybody home?” called Fillman.
“Hi, I’m Stella, the Lieberman’s housekeeper. How may I help you?” a middle-aged woman walked into the living room.
“Hi. We’re Detectives Fillman and Stevenson from the NYPD, we wanted to have a word with Logan” replied Stevenson.
“I’m sorry, he left a while ago for some work. But Nathan’s here.”
“Please call him”
“Good afternoon Detectives. What brings you here” says Nathan, following Stella down the stairs.
“Nathan, where’s your father?” Stevenson asks, now losing his patience.
Nathan hesitated, while pondering whether or not he should tell them. His father had gone for some work but he had told Nathan, in case of an emergency and he had also said not to tell anyone where he was going. But Nathan considered this an emergency seeing as the NYPD Detectives had come to his house.
The minute he told them the address, they hurriedly said thank you and rushed to their car.
<><><><>
Fillman was confused as the car stopped in front of the address that Nathan had given them. It was of an antique-looking cabin. The cabin had small windows and a little door. It was at the edge of a forest, slightly hidden between the trees.
The backup cars surrounded the cabin from the remaining sides and were not in view.
Slowly and stealthily, Fillman and Stevenson got out of the car and opened the door of the cabin.
The living room had a small wooden table with wooden chairs, an LCD TV and a few sofas. Abstract paintings lined the walls. But that’s not what caught their attention because standing in the middle of the living room, preparing to leave, holding two briefcases were Logan and Lilly Lieberman.
