Her eyes flicked back and forth between the way to Earth and her home. And her whole body was aching with the urge to stay here and fight with her family. 'No,' she thought. She couldn't stay. She had to go to Earth. Protecting her child was the sole reason why she was heading to Earth in the first place. One of her hands slid down to rest on her outstretched stomach as she proceeded to fly down to Earth.
"You're doing the right thing," her mate said, whispering the words softly into her ear as they flew down together.
He placed a light kiss on her forehead and gripped her hand tightly with his own. Both of them were afraid of what was in store for them and their not even born baby girl. A gentle breeze went in circles around their bodies assuring them that everything would be okay thanks to them.
When they reached the planet created by their own beloved father they let out a sigh of relief. Their journey, for now, is over. With peace comes fear, though. That gnawing, gut wrenching fear that the pace wont last for as long as they hoped. A fear that angels, normally, would never have to fear. In their situation it was expected, though, for they needed fear in order to be prepared of what was to come.
Her eyes, once again, flicked back and forth from the town and the sky. She missed her home terribly. Of course she knew she could not go back. Not until the war was over. And, that, would not be over for many years. Thousands of humans walked around and through them, never seeing what was right before their eyes. It was always good that humans could not see them in this form because then they wouldn't have to deal with any trouble it might cause. Humans, of course, could not see what they don't believe in. And, sadly, angels were one of the -many- things that they did not believe.
'Dear father, protect our child from any harm the creatures of this world you created have to offer,' she prayed, silently kneeling on the ground and looking upwards. Her mate mirroring her actions, each with their own prayers. Because of their purity they knew their father would answer their prayers. And, for that, they were thankful.
All around them sounds echoed off from the buildings and trees. The streets right now were busy and they knew they had to leave before a human who did believe in them saw them. Within seconds they made it to the outer boarders of the small town they had landed in just moments before. A soft sigh escaped both of the angels, Serenity and Christian, as they rested in the highest trees of the forest. Tomorrow would be the day they're graced with a child. The child would be ignorant of what she was and what her parents are.
Of course the child could not notice the wings that marked her different. The one thing that separated her from the others of this world. She did not know why she had them. All she believed was that they're a curse put on her for some reason. For that very reason she could never be happy in this world. She could never be herself. Always acting and always pretending everything was okay.
Her mother and father always tried to make her feel better. They gave her everything she had always wanted to make sure she would be happy. Even being angels they did not know what was going on inside their daughters mind. Nor did they know that her own battle, caused by her, was internal. She was a lamb among dragons. Never fitting in with anyone yet having all love her. The struggles of this world and the pain it caused was too much for her.
"Christian?" Serenity called, looking toward the direction of her mate.
"Yes, my love?" he responded, pulling her into his lap.
"I wish this war never started. I wish we didn't have to leave," she said, snuggling close to him in his arms.
"As do I, my love, as do I," he answered quietly, kissing her head softly as they both began to drift into sleep.
Neither knew what was going to happen. The future was cloudy and their thoughts were racing at the moment. Each was thinking about what they were going to do and both feared what their days and nights on this world held. For their sole reason on this earth was to make sure their daughter survived. Since she held the key to saving not only this world but their own. A place where peace and happiness were the only things they felt. Where fear was hardly known.
For this reason they had to survive.
