An eerie silence filled the evening air making every little sound feel so loud
Like the rhythmic sound of his heartbeat
The memories of his dead wife haunted him as he walked down the empty streets
The heaviness of his heart matched the blanket of darkness that hugged every nook and corner
The burden of his life pressed on his shoulders, as every aching muscle craved for comfort
As he made his way home, climbing the stairs he opened the door
His little girl came running to hug him, the exact replica of the love of his life
As he lifted her high up in the air her happy giggles filling his heart setting his caged soul free
Her loving whispers as she called him daddy
Wiped out everything dark and sad in him
Her innocent smiles made his burdens light, she was the shining moon that lit up his dark nights
Like the sunshine on a stormy day
She became the sole purpose of living his life .
