An Explanation

This chapter is going to be an explanation of why I called this book Kitchen Sink, and a quick introduction to Twenty Øne Piløts. (BTW I don't know how coherent this will actually be, cause I'm not a very good writer. Please bear with me lol)

So, pretty much the first time I really heard about TØP was a few months ago. Stressed Out, Heathens, and Ride were really big on the radio station that I listen to, so I heard them a lot. And I really liked them. I'm also on Pinterest a lot and I saw a bunch of people talking about Twenty Øne Pilots on there, so one day I decided to look them up. Honestly, I am so glad that I did. The tunes are beautiful, and the lyrics are absolutely brilliant!

The band members are Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun. (^Josh is on the left, Tyler is on the right ). Tyler is the singer. He also plays piano and ukulele. Josh plays the drums. They won a Grammy in 2017 for their song Stressed Out. Tyler was home schooled and they're both Christians. I believe they also both have anxiety, which is often reflected in their music. This is an extremely basic description, but I'll probably talk about them a lot as time goes on.

One of my favourite songs of theirs is Kitchen Sink (the words for it will be in the next chapter).      Unfortunately, I can't actually tell you what Kitchen Sink means, because I don't know what it means. Here's why:

"One of the reasons why I started writing music in the first place was to address some of these ig questions I had. One of them being "what's the point?" I know it sounds dramatic, but it's something that was haunting me - what's the point of everything that we do? Really looking for a huge reason to exist. So I found that creating something that only you understand can be the beginning of purpose for you. So for me, something important in my life happened to me at a kitchen sink. And in my darkest hour, when deciding whether or not to continue, I realized that if I don' continue, no one will be around to explain what that lyric means. So it.. helps me. So creating something, whether it's a journal, or a piece of artwork, something that you don't reveal the meaning of, can help you know that if you leave, no one will be around to explain this. So in short, I'm not going to tell you what that kitchen sink means to me, because I need it to be only known by me." ~ Tyler Joseph

Trying to find a purpose is something that I struggle with a lot, which I think is part of why I like Kitchen Sink so much. Tyler and Josh really mean a lot to me, and they inspire me with through their music. Which is why I called this book Kitchen Sink, even though I don't fully understand what it means.

(Sorry this chapter was so long, I don't know if it even made much sense, but I thought that I should try and write it anyway.)
