Once school started, the atmosphere was strangely different than most days. Everyone inside the building couldn't stop chattering about the new school's contest. "Woohoohoo!" said Matt Helders to Alex. Matt was one of Alex's closest buddies who've known each since the 3rd grade. Matt brotherly punched Alex in his shoulder."Finally, bro we get to show off some real music to this school's lameass goodytwosho students! Yewoh!!"

Alex smiled, " haha man, you got that right." They walked into their first period class, math with Mr. Rogers. They entered late as usual. "I see you two are late again. Well there is no doubt that your imprudence will greatly affect you at the end of the year, so maybe this time you tardy prone students should...." Mr. Roger's kept dragging on. Matt discreetly started to mimic Mr. Roger's usual ramblings as he walked towards his seat in the middle of the classroom.

"Yes students" he started shaking his finger with a disapproving look, "we should all arrive on time. Every minute wasted of education time will critically damage you in your future. Otherwise I'll be sleeping on the streets...or in your beds, ladies" he winked at the girls in the room. Matt cooly sat in his seat, hands behind his head. He put on his usual cocky smile that worked completely well with his jokester personality. All the girls swooned at his comment while others started chuckling at Matt's goofiness. Alex sat down like he didn't have a care in the world. He slung back in his chair while chewing on the back of his wooden pencil. Once everyone was in their seats, Mr. Roger's continued the math lesson on Parabola's and Ellipses. Alex sat on the right side of class, in the back.

On the left hand side of the classroom, sat Chester Charles Bennington. Not only that, but his right hand man, Phoenix, sat next to him, along with Rob. Matt was only two seats diagonally away from Alex. Both were reasonably distant from the soldiers seating area. Despite that, these rival gangs knew they were here, but ignored each other's presence. It was only Alex and Chester who were constantly bothered by each other's presence.

Alex looked up at the ceiling. Alex started thinking to himself how this contest will finally give the monkeys an opportunity to show off their music skills. Alex's dad passed away from lung cancer when he was only 13 years old. It was Alex's dad who showed him how to play guitar and to love music the way you would passionately love a woman. He deeply respected and loved his old man to no end.

It was music that brought the monkeys together and inevitably made them good pals. Jamie, Matt, and Nick all grew up learning music. Alex and Matt met their new buds in jr. High, all having the same science classroom. Not surprisingly, they got suspended for a week for one of their science experiments catching the teacher's wig on fire. Not only were they musically talented, but they all had a mischievous and bad boy persona in each of their personalities. Their nick of causing trouble made them create their own gang, giving no fucks to anything or anyone. " Heh" Alex whispered to himself, "maybe we could actually make something out of ourselves. Stupid as i am in school, music's my only skill."

Tilting his chair over, one arm at the back of his head, Alex flicked his pencil into the air and hit the ceiling. Funny enough, it hit the back of Phoenix's head. Phoenix turned around while Mr. Rogers was talking mid sentence. Phoenix grabbed Alex's pencil and broke it. "Real funny monkey" he threw the broken pencil at Alex's face, " here's your crappy pencil back." Everyone immediately looked at each other, hesitating whether or not they should get up and quickly back away. Alex slid the pencil pieces off his desk. He slung back into his chair and said "be a good soldier and hand me a new one would ya. Or, how about you fly over the teachers desk and bring it to me like a fuckin bird."

The class giggled, but immediately stopped. Everyone got up and backed away from the two boy's space in between. Mr. Rogers was distraught by this sudden change in the air, though not surprised in the least! These kind of fights happened all the time at school, during and after. Everyone, but Chester, Rob, and Matt stayed sitting down, enjoying the approaching rumble about to go down. "Why you misbehaving students!" Mr. Rogers then began mumbling loudly how he'll be back with security and the principal, while running out the door. Maybe a one month payed vacation wouldn't hurt either.

Phoenix stood up. "Monkey you better watch your mouth," he crossed his arms, looking down on Alex,"it's no wonder you have no manners. Having the size of monkeys brain will do that to you." Matt jumped onto his desk, one leg on top, the other hanging. He started clapping his hand, "hahaha, hey Alex you gonna let him talk to you like that!" Matt snickered.

Alex pushed his chair out as he rose from his chair. He swiftly grabbed his comb from his pocket and ran it through his beautifully greased up hair. " like I'd ever run from a fight" Alex cracked his knuckles. Chester and Rob started kicking the desks and chairs out of the way. Some students quickly left the classroom, but most stayed to watch the fight. The tension rose from learning math to a real fist fight with two well known gangs among all teenagers. "How 'bout we just go at it monkey" Phoenix said impulsively. "Fine by me" Alex retorted back, grinning.

Phoenix stood his ground while loosening up his muscles a bit. He took of his leather jacket, showing off his muscular arms off that seemed to want to rip out of his T-shirt. Out of all the soldiers, Phoenix was the strongest and most well built. He was also pretty damn good on the bass guitar as well. Rob whistled out loudly for them to begin. "Give it to him good Phoenix!" Rob yelled out. Chester smirked waiting for Alex to get beaten up. Alex threw the first punch, but missed. Phoenix gave it back to him in the face."ooffh" Alex spit out. "Pretty weak monkey" Phoenix said to him. Alex grinned "impressive soldier" Alex surprised him by throwing him a kick to his stomach and with multiple punches to the face.

Phoenix stood up spitting blood out as he tightened his fist. He gave Alex a blow to his face just as the security guards came. Alex rapidly started punching Phoenix. As Phoenix did the same hitting Alex's gut and face they were both dragged apart and sent to the office.

~inside the office

Mrs. Ramsey entered her office to find one of each member from the monkeys and soldiers sitting as they scowled each other. She sat at her desk recieving a whistle from the worlds biggest flirt, Alex Turner leader from the monkeys she scoffed at him and got back to buisness.

"Well then, im not surprised by seeing you two here. Exactly what happened between you two? " Alex chuckled, " im real sorry for my behavior Diana, but you know how it is with these fucking soldiers. " he gave a look towards phoenix. Phoenix angrily said, "shut up monkey" Mrs. Ramsey cleared her throat. " as for your punishment, instead of giving you another suspension, you'll have to help serve lunch for the next two weeks. Afterwards you can eat your lunch with whatever time you have left." Both put on a face that look clearly annoyed. " whatever, you say beautiful" Alex said . Mrs. Ramsey replied" any more out of you and I'll accuse you of harassment mr. Turner!" She walked around her desk and opened the door.

" now leave my office. Starting Monday you'll be sent to the cafeteria and start working. Phoenix got up and walked out the door, " yeah yeah mrs principal" he waved his hands at her and then stuck them into his pockets. Phoenix walked out the door with Alex behind him. " see you soon mrs. Ramsey" Alex said giving off his cocky smiles. Phoneix looked back giving a disgusted look. He scoffed to himself saying "what a shit head" , Once Ramsey closed the door and they headed in different directions.
