Basil stuffed the note in his pocket and cradled the machine in his hands, he was holding a bit of magic and he was going to explore, find his family and get back home with them.

He travelled across a path which seemed to sing with every step he took, he gazed upon the houses and suddenly realising that the sun was fading away to be replaced by a magnificent moon.

Basil stumbled upon an abandoned property which looked safe and comfortable for the night. He managed to scavenge enough material to make some sort of bed and then slept.

Buzzing. Humming. Crying. A whole combination of noises seemed to sound at the exact same time. Startled, Basil got up and held his portal gun in hand.

In front of him stood a giant creature, blazing ember eyes looking into his very soul. It stood looming over him, seeming to resemble all things bad. It could of been dead, it looked like it was rotting away every second, a living corpse. The nightmare figure had dark red stained on his skin. Needle like spikes covered its coat, it had a warm aroma. Basil felt like the pits  of hell blazed among him.

The creature spoke.

"You away. You are not supposed to be here. You are on our property and shouldn't be here. Traveller what do you come here for? Money? Gold? Speak!" the muffled, deep and ominous voice echoed.

"creature I have been transported her to find my family. Do you happen to know where they are?"

"what is your name?"

The question of the creature seemed like it mustn't be answered. In Ruperts letter he had been warned about the numerous visits he'd get from people who wanted his family's intelligence. No.

"I ask again young traveller. What is your name?!"

"You are on my land now. Tell me! Who are you?!"

"I have no name now." Basil replied. This world loomed with lurking monsters and villains on the attack. He had thought that it was safe. But he now knew to trust nothing. The dream world acted as a mask for this rough dimension he had been in this time, it was shielded from to him. Trust no one. Now.

Basil grabbed the portal gun. Tapping the buttons required, he became invisible proceeding to see nothing but pitch black. Everything seemed to be spinning and he felt like a spinning top in the dark.

I wonder what this world will have. Basil thought. As he awoke and he regained his senses. Aware of everything. He got up and yet again went to explore.
