I gazed through the window, watching the sun as it drifted down and disappeared over the horizon. Letting out a sigh, I leaned away from the window and fell onto my bed. Staring up at the ceiling, my thoughts turned to Charlie. He was so lucky, being able to stand there in the sun, feel the warmth sweep through him.

Suddenly, the sound of the doorbell rang throughout the house. I jumped up and ran to my door. Throwing it open, I rushed down the stairs. I stopped at the bottom, just in time to see a smile on Charlie's face, before he grabbed me around the middle and drew me closer, about to kiss me.

"Okay, don't you two have somewhere you should be?" my dad, Jack, inquired, breaking the moment.

"Oh fine. We're going, we're going." I reply, rolling my eyes. Charlie grinned sheepishly at my dad and then grabbed my hand, leading me out of the house.

"Be back by 2!" my dad called after us.

I sighed and leaned my head on Charlie's shoulder.

"What is it?"

"Oh, nothing," I said quickly.

"You aren't telling me something." he challenged.

"I-I don't want to tell you."

"What could go wrong? I love you."

"I have a severe sensitivity to sunlight. I can't ever go outside during the day."

"What! Why didn't you tell me?" Charlie exclaimed.

"Because I didn't want you to think of me as a disease like everybody else."

"Oh," he replied. He shifted to face me, causing me to lean away from him and turn to face him. We looked into each other's eyes for a moment before he leaned closer and we had our first kiss.

Afterward, I leaned back and laid down in the grass. Gazing up at the stars, I heard Charlie lay down beside me.

"There's something I didn't tell you about tonight," Charlie admitted. "Tonight is when the Halley's Comet passes by."

"Wait, really? I thought that was really rare though?" I gasped, turning onto my side to face him.

"Well yeah, that's why we're out here. I thought it would be more romantic." Charlie confessed, grinning mischievously at me as he rolled onto his side.

Letting out a sigh, I curled up against him and watched the night sky.

The sounds of the night sky filled the air as we laid quietly in the soft grass. A quiet hoohoo spread across the field as an owl flew past.

I closed my eyes in peace as Charlie wrapped his arms around me. I let random thoughts take over, slowly falling asleep.

I thought about how I could never see the sun, feel its warmth. About how Charlie loved me and cared for me. I thought about how love was strange.

Finally, I gave in and let sleep overtake me.
