So I've decided to use the second prompt. Hope you enjoy!

I grab my keys and coat and rush out the door to my car.

You collapsed today.

We found out 3 years ago that you had cancer. You were diagnosed with Leukemia. Over the course of time, you became a Stage 4. It got worse and worse. You got donations of marrow, but it never worked. There was no cure.

When I got the call, I dropped my phone and rushed to the hospital as quick as possible. I drive across the highway and pull into the parking lot, not caring as to where I park. I run inside to the desk.

"I'm here for Katelyn Firefist." I tap my fingers anxiously as the nurse at the desk looks for her file.

"Room 107-"

I cut her off and run down one of the many corridors looking for the room.

I take an abrupt stop in front of the room. I turn towards the door and take a deep breath before turning the door knob. I push open the door and my eyes automatically flick over to you, laying on a hospital bed, unconscious- almost lifeless.

My breathing turns shaky as I slowly take steps toward the side of your bed. Your eyes are closed, and you have a breathing tube, as well as many IV's up and down your arms. I sit next to the bed and gently grab your hand. I lean forward and just wait. I don't know what I'm waiting for, I just do it though. It starts with an hour. Then two, three and so on. I finally get up when I see the doctor walk in. My head turns quickly, causing a slight whiplash.

I pay no attention to it.

I look at the doctor, waiting for him to say something. He walks over, a solemn look on his face.

This cannot be good.

"She's not doing good," he says at first. "But, there is a small chance she'll wake up."

Tears sting my eyes. Sad or happy tears, I can't tell.

I try to speak, but words won't form. I try again. "What's the chance?"

"70-30." His eyes don't meet mine.

"Ok..." He nods and walks out of the room. She will wake up, I told myself. I know she can fight through this.

I keep my hold of your hand and look over at you. I don't know if you can hear me, but it's worth a shot. "Hey Katie... They say it's bad... Almost no chance.. but a little one. I know you can be part of that small chance. You can make it through this. You're strong... I can't lose you..."

I take a minute to steady my breathing.

"Remember the time when we first actually talked? You and Jefferey had just broken up, so I wanted to cheer you up. I told those pick-up lines, which you thought you were terrible.. I got you to laugh, which made me so happy.."

I didn't sleep that night. I told you stories of some of the memories we had together. I finish another one, and my voice catches, due to not having water in over 8 hours.

I step out of the room and down into the main area to quickly get a plastic cup of water. I take a sip and walk back to see through the window, that there are many doctors surrounding you.

I quickly walk in to see if you're alright. I get to a point that I can see you in between some of the doctors. You look the same at first, but then I notice that your eyes are slightly opened. My eyes quickly start stinging, and I know it's relief.

I push my way past them and go to your side. You reach for my hand and hold it. I squeeze it gently, while tears stream down my face.

You did it.

You fought through it.

You beat the odds.
