The Falling Sky
Prologue
It was raining heavily. Lightning flashed across the darkening sky splitting, it into separate fragments of grey before disappearing completely. Mist wreathed the car park in white, the smoky tendrils seeming to grab anything that walked through. On one side of the car park there were stacks of tyres, looming over the small figure entering through a large gap in the fence.
In one of the tyres, a tiny black she-cat lay curled up. Muttering sleepily, she rolled over, showing a red collar she had around her neck. It was studded with dog teeth.
The small figure, larger than the tiny she-cat but still quite small, hurried through the mist. He paused and shivered, his eyes scanning for the right tyre. But it was no use, nothing was visible other than the hard ground, and the heavy rain and mist.
The tom padded over to the tire cautiously. "Ebony?" He asked. He put his wet ginger paws on the tyre, and peeked inside at the she-cat. "Are you awake?"
"I'm awake, Strike." Snapped the black she-cat, her pale green eyes flashing dangerously, dark fire dancing in their depths. Strike flinched as she spoke. "Even you should know better than to wake me." Her claws dug into the ground, making a sickening scraping sound.
"Sorry, Ebony." whimpered Strike. "It's just... this is really important." He looked at his paws.
Ebony glared at him. "So what is it?" She asked. Her green eyes were annoyed, but curious. "Did someone attack us?"
Strike quickly shook his head. "Nothing like that. It's just..." he trailed off awkwardly, his paws scuffling anxiously on the edge of the tyre.
Ebony lost her patience. "Just tell me!" She hissed. Her body arched in anger, and her claws scratched at the ground furiously.
"Sorry!" Squeaked Strike. At another glare from Ebony, he went on. "Well... do you remember that I believe in StarClan?"
Ebony hissed. "Is it about this again? I thought we already had this conversation!"
"We did." confirmed Strike. "But... they came to me."
"They hate us and all of BloodClan!" sneered Ebony. Her eyes hardened in anger. "Stop lying and tell the truth!"
Strike backed away. "No, it wasn't StarClan..." he tried to explain, panic flashing in his gold eyes. Leaping gracefully out of the tyre, Ebony swiped her claws across his flank. He squealed, blood pouring down his side.
"You just said it was!" She hissed.
